I have 500+ bookmarks and I don't want edit each nickname one by one. Can we batch copy every bookmark name to nickname at once?

Tamil Saturday, September 20, 2008 3:19:00 PM

Why do you want to create nickname for all? Create nick name for frequently used sites with short nickname.

You have to create a script.

nizamx Saturday, September 20, 2008 4:34:12 PM

For faster access a script (not user script but a excel macro or something else I don't know how) for filling empty nicknames from bookmark names, would be very helpful.

Open opera6.adr file in any text editor after closing Opera and add a new line under each bookmark with
SHORT NAME=Nickname

To 500+ bookmarks manually? no

If you type few characters of bookmarks in address field, Opera will show bookmarks matching it.

If I add SHORT NAME=Nickname to each bookmark in text editor then if I type few characters of bookmarks in address field, Opera will show bookmarks matching it. But what I want is to automate adding nicknames from bookmark names. Sorry if I misunderstood your instructions.

Nicknames should be short, unique & should not contain spaces. What is the use of copying bookmark name to nickname? Opera will show the items from bookmarks if you enter few characters of bookmark.

"not contain spaces" Ooops you're right about nicks, then bookmark names should be accessible from adress bar. This would be a good solution.

Hi!

Is possible to have bookmarks with "substitution"

address t2054 -> http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/2054

without doing JS coding?

EDIT: got it with custom search

Hi, is there any way how to assign more than one alias to a single bookmark? I have already tried some special marks, but they do not work...

Tamil Tuesday, September 14, 2010 8:20:09 AM

Nope.
