A great weekend

, , , ...

This last weekend our friend Suzette, who founded and runs the local Myotonic Dystrophy support group, had a cookout for us all. She also included birthday celebrations for Teddy's 19th (today June 8 ) and Kim's 40th ( 2 July )
What an amazing friend! Even after caring for her own son with MMD, she can find time and energy to do for the rest of us dealing with MMD in our lives.
Today the three of us are joyful, humbled, and grateful for her friendship.

I need some help!

Time for a new direction

,

I have decded to change the main focus of my blog. I realized that there are millions of words spent on politics daily, a veritable ocean of opinion, to what end? To engender more divide? Enough!
From now on I will attempt to limit my posts to what I know about caring for a hadicapped family. Perhaps I may even do someone else some good.

Most Important

, ,

Although I am passionate about politics they are not, nor can they ever be, my first love. I reserve that for my family. As my wife and son suffer from Myotonic Dystrophy, their care must come first. This has been such a week, Tuesday night my sons digestive tract went on strike again. At his bedside over the last couple of days, I am yet again struck with awe effect he has on those around him. To say that his eighteen years have been difficult does not begin to do it justice. If anyone in the world has earned the right to be sad, mean, and angry it is him. To witness the love and joy he shares with others, I am patently unworthy. I have often heard we are noticed by the ripples we create in our own little pond. I am truly humbled by the tsunami in my sons wake. Not reflected on a playing field or the halls of academe, but in the hearts and lives of those he meets, a permanent mark.

Hello and...

I occasionally suffer from thoughts and viewpoints that I must inflict on others. My long suffering employer and co_workers need a break!!! PLEASE HELP lighten their load. From time to time I will post a thought for disection, mostly political from the center left, please comment. I believe in cogent discourse and would like to hear from others, whether you agree or disagree. Some thoughts for the moment..... 1) The last 20 years should have taught us that a regulated market is important to sustainability. 2)A "No Down Interest Only ARM" = RENT...! Nuff said, Thank You.
