Michael Vick is being arraigned as I type this, on charges of animal cruelty and running a "dogfighting" ring on his property. Something about this case gives me more questions than answers with each occurring day. This man is a multi-millionaire quarterback for an NFL football team, owns a huge sprawling mansion, yet is so skimpy in the way his animals are housed, raised, and treated. To me, and I am an animal rights activist; this is very odd. It is not really about what he's done, to me, don't get me wrong: I think it's terrible. This case is purely about how the dogs were living. They lived in small-ish chain-linked kennels, with no concrete base, no real shelter inside the kennel, and oddly enough, not very sheltered from everything around it. The kennels were covered with large blue tarps, yet this man makes millions of dollars a year. Can he not afford to build a real kennel for these animals? Also, he wanted to win money with this operation, I would think he would want the dogs to be in tip-top shape and to be moderately happy when not attempting to kill other dogs. I'm pointing this all out, because it shows you something, something about Michael Vick's character. It shows that he is, in fact a cheap, cowardly, cruel-hearted, and sick individual. How can it possibly be that none of Vick's teamates or friends knew of his other "occupation"? They knew, they know more than the police know, they just haven't let the world know they were in on this star football players' dirty little secret.
