I been gettin my expository fix at Cobb since tiring of P6's debilitating combination of egotism, parochial linearity, and emotional constipation...,
If I may opine on the question you raise here, i.e., why Israel? I believe the last 10 days or so have much to do with this.
What think you?
The question I left hanging at P6 was, "so what does this have to do with us"? Aside from our "not in our name" "caught in the belly of the beast" predicament in America, it has everything to do with how we exercise the unique moral/political capital of Blackness.

"On signing the deal, Iran's Petroleum Minister announced that Tehran would like to see China replace Japan as Iran's largest oil importer. As well, Iran has what are estimated to be the world's second largest reserves of natural gas after Russia. Iran is a place of enormous strategic importance to China, to Japan, to Russia, to the European Union, and for all these reasons, to Washington as well.

You know, this whole thing is akin to the fear dialogue you had with that cat on Cobb's site. Of course I couldn't believe he gave the guy a ride - stoopidass...but the thing about it is that guys who jump people do it regularly...it's never a one-off...it's a recurring theme in their lives...and so it goes with Israel...the fighting in Lebanon is not a one-off beat down to secure the release of two soldiers...It's part of a larger pattern and the game is much larger. Why in the hell would anyone expend that much energy to bring back 2 expendable soldiers? No one would. So, it's been obvious to me from 21 Jump Street that the broader issues would be granted cover by the media.
