pub, shine, sun, Beachyhead
Brilliant weather this weekend - sadly I ended up spending most of it in the new computer shop, helping the first born with cleaning and stock taking. The place is in quite a state - I expect it could be something to do with the previous owner selling it to us and never picking up a duster or vacumn cleaner since! Yugh! Still it looks a lot better now and there's only the back room full of boxes to sort out next Sunday - sigh.
On Saturday we drove up to Beachyhead - apparently lots of people throw themselves off it every year in suicide attempts? I think it's more likely they get blown off by the wind - it was blowing a gale up there! We had a rather indifferent lunch served by a rather disinterested staff in the pub before heading home.
But it was lovely to see that the sun does indeed still shine!

rain, green, people, England
...
Well we made it! The weather is dull and gray, the wind is blowing up a gale outside at this very moment BUT here we are in the land of our forefathers and I'm still trying to find the jolly bit?
This decision to leave Zambia's fair shores (well not shores exactly, but you know what I mean) for England's 'green and pleasant' land was rather sudden and seemed an excellent idea at the time? I expect only time will tell if it really was - lol So far the weather isn't helping much to endear the place to me although I am enjoying the briskness of the icy wind when it settles to a breeze and the view from my temporary apartment is quite lovely, especially on those odd moments of sunshine which reflect off the sea pounding just below my balcony.
A strange place this England - full of people rushing hither and thither, many obviously with eyesight problems since they don't seem to see you walking down the pavement until AFTER they've nearly knocked you flying? They seem to have a rule for nearly every occasion and have perfected the 'look' which is directed at you if you inadvertently make a mistake. Maybe it's to do with the weather but England seems to have more than its fair share of miserable looking people. I am hoping that the smiles will appear with the sunshine later in the year!
So.....into the fray dear friends! I'll keep you up to date with the quirks and quidities of living in civilisation as often as I can.
Wish me luck!

grrrrrr!
It would seem that today, at least, I am able to access My Blog page:confused:
While this is wonderful news indeed, it also seems that I have had to sacrifice my access to My Account and the Forums via the normal routes! I get that same daft message that I was getting before - grrrrr!
So the only way I can go to the Forums is to go out and then come back in on my direct to forum bookmarked page - this is a somewhat confused, baffled and bewildered

to say the least!
No matter - I will bumble on - forever in the hope that, one day, I will overcome these obstacles and that I will a better and stronger

because of them.
Onward and upward!

blog, grumpy, TV, fed-up!
My goodness what a grumpy mood I've been in today!
It started with my inability to get into my Blog page here on Opera and sort of went downhill from there
The day started rather gray and dreary, I woke up late and had to rush about getting dressed so that I could go to the office with hubby and drop him off to pick up his car. I am NOT a morning person - especially after a late night doing battle with an obstreperous computer!! Next on the agenda was a quick dash into the tyre place to have my wheel alignment done - this was only necessitated by my trip last week to the big city and the falling into of a particularly nasty pothole on route! The tyre place is normally a fairly quite place to go - not this morning however. I battled to get in and battled even more to get out while other idiot drivers parked their cars randomly all over the forecourt, mostly I'm convinced, just to annoy and irritate me
The I toddled off to pay my satellite TV subscription for the month. Bearing in mind that I was actually at least 15 days in CREDIT on the account, you can understand my annoyance to get home and find it had been cut off AFTER I had just paid!! Several phone calls later and much gritting of teeth and they finally switched it back on - just after the programme I'd been waiting to see was finished
It was about then that I realised I had forgotten to put the oxtail for dinner in the slow cooker - sigh! Oh well, it should be ready about 9pm - everyone will just have to snack on peanuts until then
And so here I am on the internet, and I still can't get onto my blog page, even though I do seem to be able to add this new entry? How bizarre is that? I have loads of packing to do for my trip back to the big city again tomorrow but I really don't feel like doing that either.
In fact, I think I will just go stand in the cupboard and sulk!

chain mail, stop!, letters
I hated it when it used to come through the regular post - you remember those horrible letters that you were supposed to copy and send to 20 people or else dire and terrible things would happen to you?? - and I hate it even MORE when I find it in my mail box!
At least with letters you had the satisfaction of tearing them up into little bits and then throwing them into the dustbin - now all you get to do is press that delete button. Not nearly as satisfying!
Why do people feel this almost frantic desire to send you these things? Do they REALLY believe that something awful (or at least more awful than normal awful!) is going to happen to them if they don't pass them on?
No idea - just stop sending them to ME!
