NY Giants

Congratulations to the NY Giants winners of the Superbowl. Masterful game plan Tom Coughlin and "Spags," Eli Manning and the entire Giant Defense. Congratulations

Beautiful game, if you like hard hitting action packed crunching. This was a fight in a phone booth, and for those that want an offensive onslaught? boo on you, This is what football is about, hitting the other guy in the teeth over and over again until they stop being a factor.

Trust me, the Patriots will feel this loss for a week, not just the loss but, physically beat up, they will know they got their butt kicked, the score might have been close, but the intensity wasn't. That first drive that took 10 minutes off of the clock before the Pats even touched the ball.

Of course I have no proof other than my wife, but I picked the Giants at the beginning of the year. Something I do, ever since I became a free agent,(the rams left, Georgia Frontiere can rot in hell)

Next year I will blog my pick in April, after the draft.

NY GIANTS!!!!!!!!!FTW!!!!!

Political phone calls

/rant

I registered as a Republican a long time ago, when my taxes for being a single working professional were more than, a working family of two. It seems that if you are single, unmarried and working, the tax you pay out is inordinately higher than any other working people out there. Simply saying you need to get married and have a few kids to have deductions to take advantage of. So I joined the Republican party the party of smaller government, and less regulation, that stood for individual rights in the face of government enforcement.

Granted the Republican party of present day has no bearing on any of that, this is a corporate whore house Republican party. Tom Delay and Jack Abramoff saw to that, and may they rot in hell. It is very interesting that all the corporate sponsors of the "bush(league)" presidency are now the ones making money hand over fist. Funny that, hmmmmm.....

So, anyways now with a voting "super-tuesday" day tomorrow, I have been receiving phone calls after phone calls about this person saying they are the best candidate for this or for that, when in fact I never vote party affiliation, I vote the candidate. So excuse me, Mit Romney but a doomsday prophecy is not the way to get my vote as is negative campaigning Hilary. At least advance your agenda, instead of taking potshots at someone. Ad hominem attacks are not going to get me into your camp.

If you have an idea, expand on that, lay off the attacks and have some merit. Ron Paul, may not have a chance but he expands his ideas. A lot of I dont agree with, but he is approachable and thinking, not an attack dog like Giulani was.

So,stop calling already. I made up my mind, and it aint you.

/end rant

yay!

Ok so I am a big fan of "Lost" a tv show, and I am very happy it is back, for those who have not seen it, it is worth the time. For those that know, nuff said. The only question I have is why Thursday night? What happened to Wednesday nights? But I can see, that the changing economics of the the series and the fact that it is winding down, means that it will end in the Thursday time slot. Not to die an inglorious death where it wallows in increasing sensational plot lines to keep the story and viewer interest. The series was not planned on being longer than 5 seasons, so i can expect none of that series rot, that creeps in.

On the bright side this is the last day of January, so I figures I would go out with a blog.

I am just waiting, for some good boxing...

Because I am only G-rated

The New, Improved little pill.

Well, Happy New Year. Haven't posted in awhile, but tonight I was watching television and saw something which reminded me why I really don't like watching regular tv.

A Drug ad (or advert.)

"But wait" you say, "why are you upset about a drug ad when they are all over television?" Well this particular ad, was for a weight loss drug. A drug that blocks some of the fat from the food that you eat, "So what is wrong with that?"

Well for starters it makes weight loss a magical little pill, it doesn't mention that hard work and diet, two of the cornerstones of healthy living, are crucial to any diet or weight loss. Uhh yeah... the pill won't do it for you, but to most Americans who don't read the fine print or pay attention the to the side effect caveats at the end of the commercial, that is beside the point. "The Commercial said if I take this I could lose the weight," unfortunately that is pretty much the only message that Americans hear.

The second part of this equation is when they go to the doctor and ask for very specific medication, "What you mean my doctor does not have my best interest in mind?" Nah, they don't care about you, never did, you are just a cash magnet for them and their Mercedes Benz. Oh that Hippocratic oath thing, figment of your imagination, Kind of like the Bill of Rights an mythical document that existed at one time, much like the Dodo bird.

Why is it so frustrating? Mainly becuase people are looking for a magic bullet, that will do the work for them, instead of making the change to their life themselves changing their diet, exercising and monitoring their intake, we reduce all to a magical pill...

This should come with a stupidity waiver, " if you take this pill and don't do the exercise and monitor your intake you lose all rights to complain in any public venue and for reimbursement or pain and trauma that goes beyond standards of common sense."

Ok, now I feel better. on a side note where is Hitesha? I miss her stories:awww:

Vista-fied

Well, the family computer bit the dust :frown: the motherboard died with a loud pop, not content to die alone it took a secondary hard drive with it. Over 60 gigs of music *sob* and numerous pictures. Luckily I had all the pictures backed up to an offline service. Yay! Mozy. Of course the kids were going nuts, they had to go outside and play for more than a couple of hours now. My wife was giving me the business because she hates playing Star Wars Galactic battlegrounds on my computer.

So, Now we have a new Dual core x64 with 3 gigs of RAM and a 320g hard drive...Sweet this totally blows away my venerable single core 1.8 cpu and pci-e to boot.

Now I am spending my late night time re-ripping my music, something like 1500 cds, this time I will go for a higher bit rate, and then copy it to another hard drive and remove it. Ya'know backup.

I got Vista with the new computer, but I still have'nt installed it on my laptop, still using the ol' XP.:D Of course take that with a grain of salt, I spend most of my time on openSuse.

Shout out to the guys at Opera, it totally blows Firefox away on Linux.:headbang:

Happy Halloween

For those that celebrate...Happy Halloween! Spreading good cheer and tooth decay across America.:knight:

For those that celebrate the harvest, I have some pumpkin ale around here, somewhere.

The Apple post!

Weeeee, someone got around to saying how I was feeling, now I don't have to do the work, or maybe I will, dunno yet. But...just in case you don't know, take a look at what Wil Shipley wrote, I thought I was in the minority as far as this went, but more and more people are speaking up.

http://wilshipley.com/blog/2007/09/iphone-ipod-contain-or-disengage.html

Somewhere, Steve Jobs is saying "Curses! someone just outed my super secret plans for world domination" or whatever appropiate saying Corporate executives say, when their dastardly deeds are shown in the light.

Sony and the rootkit legacy lives on...

At some point in time, consumers will just get tired of Sony and their draconian efforts to control information. Really, Have a read or two
http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/#00001264

Their microvault USB drive...a USB drive!

Ok, this one just doesn't gibe with their whole rootkit on music experience

http://www.techpowerup.com/?38299

I really don't know how this is going to end, but it might look like this (something I wrote on another community)

In further news, Sony's activation pilot program called secuROm plus, actually sends a team of ex-military, blackops people :ninja: to install the software and take pictures of anything and everything in your house. "You don't even need to be there" says an anonymous Sony VP. Although there have been reports of photographs of girlfriends or wives getting in or out of the shower, Sony dismisses this as purely, end user problems.

If you think that is funny you should really check out the DRM for Blu-ray:jester:

Stupid Software installer

Ach ! Stupid software installer, It keeps trying to give me a LibDTS codec, which I click install than it says it needs additional packages GtK-streamer...OK I click on install addtional packages. Streamer packages install, but then the LibDTS pops up again. Repeat, rinse, repeat, rinse...

finally just unclicked libDTS, I can live without DTS on Linux for the time being.

Really the best part about Linux is that once I apply the updates, I don't need to restart the system. This would have been really annoying applying updates like this under Windows.
