Sony and the rootkit legacy lives on...

At some point in time, consumers will just get tired of Sony and their draconian efforts to control information. Really, Have a read or two
http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/#00001264
Their microvault USB drive...a USB drive!
Ok, this one just doesn't gibe with their whole rootkit on music experience
http://www.techpowerup.com/?38299
I really don't know how this is going to end, but it might look like this (something I wrote on another community)
In further news, Sony's activation pilot program called secuROm plus, actually sends a team of ex-military, blackops people
to install the software and take pictures of anything and everything in your house. "You don't even need to be there" says an anonymous Sony VP. Although there have been reports of photographs of girlfriends or wives getting in or out of the shower, Sony dismisses this as purely, end user problems.
If you think that is funny you should really check out the DRM for Blu-ray:jester:

Sounds stupid today, but the simple fact is that the old DOS based computers worked! All the time. They never crashed, and there was no such thing as hardware incompatibility. And DOS4 could do colours too. With the first ever PC's you were restricted to black and white. I still have an old DOS program called "See" which is an image viewer, and can even do a slideshow. Also with Lynx, you could get on the 'Net. It was a damned good browser, all things considered. They hadn't at that time, as far as I know, developed a video/audio viewer, though. But it would have been just a matter of time, I'm sure.
The only real downside to DOS is that you couldn't multi-task. But all in all, it was a better OS than the new-fangled stuff.
IMHO, Window$ has simply become too complicated. And the more complicated something is, the more there is to go wrong! 95 was much more reliable than XP! Of course, Micor$oft propagandizes that XP is the "most reliabe Windows to date." Bullshit!
Ever since I installed XP about 6 months ago, I've had to go Format C: four times, just to keep the friggin computer working!
(Errr ... I save my data first!)
Linux? Not for me. I only have an IQ of 141. To be able to figure out what's going on with Linux, BSD, etc, you need an IQ of 5000!
When I first installed XP, I had it make a Start-up diskette. One day I stuck it in in order to go Format C:, and discovered that it was missing both fdisk and format. So I cranked up XP, and copied format into the diskette. Started DOS again, went Format C:, and was told that the format command only works under Window$!
Bringing up XP and then going Format to the C: drive would work real well!
However, I found an old Start-up diskette for 98SE, copied it onto the C:drive, in it's own folder, of course, and then proceeded to cut a CD with it. So now I have a Start-up CD complete with fdisk and format!
Maybe the Russkies or the Indians or somebody will come up with a whole new OS, much simpler, yet highly competent.
BTW: I know little about Apple, other than Quickplayer, so I'm wondering why you included Apple in your Axis of Evil?

As for Apple and the ubiquitous Ipod, Really, I'll just have to post, but that is another thread. I work with Apples, and those annoying commercials we get over here in the states are just good marketing. Apples crash, just differently, want to upgrade your hardware? "What do you mean you are charging me $400 for a 200 gig hard drive?"
Trust me, there is alot out there.

Frankly, I don't see of what earthly use those IPod things are. Seems to me that they are just another silly toy.
If I had my way, I'd own a mainframe. Then I'd have a REAL computer!

If that was not directed at me, ignore it.
If it was, you're welcome!

OK! It's a nice name!
Ahhh! Kitreena! Woman of my dreams!
PS: Don't take the above the wrong way. I have my own lady, and we're in Love! It's just kidding around, OK?
Fortunately, she can't read or speak English!

I am fascinated by the name Kitreena. I just checked with Radostina, and she said she didn't think it was Russian, and it certainly isn't Bulgarian. The closest Russian is "Yekaterina" (Catherine), as in Yekaterina Velikaya" - Catherine the Great, and the city "Yekaterinburg" - Catherines's "Burg", which is ironically enough where Tsar Nickie the Stupid and his family were assassinated.
She suggested possibly Czech, and I figure possibly German, or even Italian. Do you know?
Anyway, I think it's lovely name!
I think the Slavic tongues are lovely, especailly the feminine nouns.
In English, we say "The Ukraine"
They say "Yukrayina". So much nicer.
Sony and the rootkit have turned into languages and history.
I do that!
