The New, Improved little pill.

Well, Happy New Year. Haven't posted in awhile, but tonight I was watching television and saw something which reminded me why I really don't like watching regular tv.
A Drug ad (or advert.)
"But wait" you say, "why are you upset about a drug ad when they are all over television?" Well this particular ad, was for a weight loss drug. A drug that blocks some of the fat from the food that you eat, "So what is wrong with that?"
Well for starters it makes weight loss a magical little pill, it doesn't mention that hard work and diet, two of the cornerstones of healthy living, are crucial to any diet or weight loss. Uhh yeah... the pill won't do it for you, but to most Americans who don't read the fine print or pay attention the to the side effect caveats at the end of the commercial, that is beside the point. "The Commercial said if I take this I could lose the weight," unfortunately that is pretty much the only message that Americans hear.
The second part of this equation is when they go to the doctor and ask for very specific medication,
"What you mean my doctor does not have my best interest in mind?" Nah, they don't care about you, never did, you are just a cash magnet for them and their Mercedes Benz. Oh that Hippocratic oath thing, figment of your imagination, Kind of like the Bill of Rights an mythical document that existed at one time, much like the Dodo bird.
Why is it so frustrating? Mainly becuase people are looking for a magic bullet, that will do the work for them, instead of making the change to their life themselves changing their diet, exercising and monitoring their intake, we reduce all to a magical pill...
This should come with a stupidity waiver, " if you take this pill and don't do the exercise and monitor your intake you lose all rights to complain in any public venue and for reimbursement or pain and trauma that goes beyond standards of common sense."
Ok, now I feel better. on a side note where is Hitesha? I miss her stories:awww:
