Did you dance with Matt at Cologne, Theresa?

Theresa 16. May 2009, 15:42

Hi Claude!
No, I didn't dance with Matt yet, just recently found his video. But I invited him to my town, so you might see me in the next video?
I like your post about the peace chain!
How can I fit in?

Claude 16. May 2009, 16:34

Do as you feel Theresa  As you can see, a girl named "Villain" did her own post for the Peace chain, and she doesn't believe in Peace!
I guess this is not your case, so if you want your can choose the subject which your heart leads
You're warm welcomed!

Mona 16. May 2009, 21:32

A woman, Claude, a woman. And my name is Mona  Villain is my humble nature. And I didn't say I don't believe in peace, for God's sake, I just said I don't believe in worldwide peace. I've tried to explain the difference between worldwide peace as impossible to achieve and peace you can bring to your home, neighbourhood etc. to make a small step towards better future, but apparently a couple of days I spent repeating the same doesn't work.
Is this chain made for discussion or just to repeat the same things?

Theresa 16. May 2009, 21:45

Hi Mona!
I don't think anybody would really think that we are so privileged to experience world peace in our lifespan.
I guess what people want to do with the peace chain is to make little steps towards the peace.
You see, nowadays it's easy to communicate - you, from Poland, me from Germany, the former aggressor that built these unspeakable concentration camps.
All these little steps help, don't you think?

Mona 16. May 2009, 22:15

Yes, I do, I do, I couldn't agree with you more! It's just the worldwide peace I don't believe in - but, well, as you can see in my blogpost and comments below, sometimes is hard for people to get the differences.

Ah, and I don't identify Germany with people who built the camps - after all, the nazi were more than one nation (there have been Polish nazi as well, I can't deny it). Germany is the neighbour of my country, with the most beautiful city I've ever seen (Freiburg) and nice, friendly people. The dark history is still between us, but it is changing.
I must say that - media don't tell about it - a lot of Polish people respect Germans more than other countries. In a way you have been marked by this war more than anyone and it must be a heavy burden to carry.
OK, sorry for offtopic, but I love talking about Polish-German relations  It's a fascinating topic.

Anyways - thanks for understanding me
Gute nacht

Theresa 16. May 2009, 22:22

That's good to hear!
I don't identify myself with nazis either, even my parents were little children when it all happened. But still, it's our history...
I don't know anything about Poland, haven't been there yet, just wrote my thesis in university about Janusz Korczak.
Probably I should go to Poland soon and get to know it.
Good night (sorry, can't do it in Polish)

Mona 16. May 2009, 22:34

Well, that's what I said about a heavy burden to carry - you must live with your history, we must live with ours.
Janusz Korczak was a good man, wasn't he? I love his books for children, although they're so sad...
If you go to Poland tell me, I could recommend you nice places to visit and I could show you around a bit  Feel free to visit me as well
And 'gute nacht' is 'dobranoc'

Theresa 17. May 2009, 07:16

Dobredan! (is that right? I just used my little scraps of Croatian and tried to make it sound Polish...)
Thank you! If I make it to Poland I'll let you know. If you come to Germany, visit me!
Janusz Korczak was a great man, he also wrote some books about education and he had some very modern pedagogical ideas. And he was very straight, he died in Treblinka with all the Jewish kids he took care of, although it is said he had the chance to get away.

Mona 17. May 2009, 17:44

Dzien dobry  (Though every Polisj would understand you)
Where do you live in Germany? I really might see you someday  I enjoy travelling around Germany since you have such wonderful roads, huhuh ;p

In Poland everyone knows Korczak, he was a pioneer when it comes to perceiving children as individual, sensitive human beings. He was a good man.
