Strange that people search for Intelligence in space when we haven't found any here.
SETI makes several assumptions. 1. That there is other intelligent life in our galaxy. 2. That they would use radio or microwaves to communicate for a long pried of time.
The first assumption can be backed up by the Drake equation. The Drake equation is a mathematical formula for the number of intelligent species in our galaxy. N = R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x L, R*for the the rate of star formation in our galaxy, fp for the fraction of those stars that have planets, ne for the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets, fl for the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life, fi for the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life, fc for is the fraction of the above that are willing and able to communicate, L for the expected lifetime of such a civilization and N in the sum of all those numbers. Now the currant estamint is 0.0000008. Looks small but when you consider the galaxy has 100,000,000,000 stars. 100,000,000,000 x .0000008% = 80000 (well according to my computers calculator) which is an impressive number of intelligence species but you also must takes into account the Fermi paradox.
The Fermi paradox is "if there is intelligent out there. Where are they?" Some might say that were not interesting enough or or where like a seed and there trees or they don;t won't to interfere with us. But theses answers assume that aliens would be benevolent. I did agree with that. They probably not as the benevolent ones would have been wiped out by the not so benevolent ones or became not so benevolent themselves while fighting the not so benevolent ones. And even if they were benevolent they would have gotten here millions of years ago before we even evolved, before Neanderthals , before any since of an intelligent species evolving and colonized the earth.
Another problem is, more advanced aliens might not be using frequency's that there looking at or they might not be using anything on the electromagnetic spectrum, they could be using neutrinos or some other particle that we may not even know about.
SETI is a wast of money and time, they are not going to find anything.
I personally believe that life is out there but I don't think that its common and I think intelligent life is far more rare to the point where we may be the only intelligent life in this galaxy.

I just hope if there is intelligent life elsewhere, they are much more intelligent than we are.
