Hello, welcome to "A Wonderful Life".

This is my blog.

Note, please that I like to talk and share about my life and that this is personal.

I don't hang out in chat rooms and I don't add friends easily.

Do yourself a favor on my.opera and don't use the "add as friend" button without asking or introducing yourself.

Getting in contact here and talking to each other shouldn't be different from what it is like in "real" life.

Hi Teresia, everyone. I posted a disclaimer at the head of my blog about adding me as friends. It's a shame we have to do that, but so many new people just see a blog they like and click on the add friends button. Sometimes a notice doesn't do much good anyway; for instance, the day after I put the notice at the beginning of my blog, I had a request from someone I've never seen or heard of before and who, apparently doesn't speak or read English. Hopefully, it cuts down on the numbers.

Linda, I got this disclaimer too ... and its a real shame that we have to do this right ... but for me it works no unmotivated, senseless requests anymore ... and btw I freely block everyone I don't want to have there ... even if it's mostly public ... it remains MY place

I sometimes have friend requests from people I really never talk to somewhere here. I usually will have a look on the profile of the people and the blog posts to see if the people is reliable enough for being a "friend" here. But, I think we have to talk to first and make us comfortable to talk.

Did you install Mandriva? It's not as easy as Mint. I'm not used to the Kde environment and don't quite have the hang in navigating there---and I hate having to have a root and a user password. All seems like a lot of unnecessary bother and inconvenience, to me.

I discovered that there is a distro out now called Peppermint! I have to try that, seeing as how that is Chuck and Lucy's name for me. And it has a peppermint hard candy in the logo. Linda ... yeah, this summer seems to start to keep some people ... me included ... a little busy and out of touch ... but that will change anyway again ...
I installed Mandriva ... and the KDE is not the way I like it, a little too stylish ... I think I try the Gnome version this weekend, but installing was very smooth as always with Mandriva ...
in the meantime I got me openSuse in KDE and Gnome and that seems to look very interesting ... it has been my first linux distro in 2004, I guess, I will give it a try ...

I know the Peppermit distro, seen it on distrowatch ... hm, should a be something for beginners and non-geeks like me

see if I will give it a try ... but this weekend I want to try something called netrunner ... a mix between gnome and kde ...

in general I'm not so good in kde ... I think it's running on too resources for a little eye candy ... and that's not really necessary and I really hate this wallet keyring root password thing ... that's why didn't want windows system anymore ... in windows it's called UAC (user account control) in Linux they call it multi user system ...
... but to be honest I'm the only user on my system anyway ...

Me too, and if I want to be user and root, that should be my prerogative. How do you get gnome environment on Mandriva. I have very little disk space left after Kde installed several gigs worth of stuff. I want to switch to Gnome but not sure how to do it---or how I can do it. Do I need to uninstall all that Kde stuff?

I've read many comments which say Kde is way too bloated and a big user of resources and I think I agree with them. Just not knowing how to get rid of all that Kde stuff.

unlike you I always download a kde and gnome version of the live cd so I don't have to switch between them ... I think you got the mandriva free version with more thzan 4 gb data ... the live cd's are called mandriva one ... and they are only up to 700 MB ... usually you should switch between gnome and kde by installing the metapackage of the desired desktop environment ... and after having installed you can delete all the kde stuff in he same program you use for installing ...

I had nice time with my friends... and I am trying to make the videos into a movie. I will make it and record it into DVD for my friends before I go to Germany. I think they will be surprised!...
