Heute meldet mir Google Alerts dies. Die Seite scheint von "Fachleuten" gemacht zu sein. Was man wissen will, findet man nur sehr schwer und auf Umwegen.

Der Artikel bei NewsForge.com meint, Conglomerate wähle einen anderen Ansatz als bekannte XML Editoren wie FrameMaker + SGML oder XMetaL. Er benutze ein graphische Darstellung der XML-Structur, die niemand für etwas anderes mißverstehen kann.

Daß Conglomerate "Free Software" ist findet man nur im Kleingedruckten. Soetwas gehört in die ersten Sätze bei about, die Dokumentation oder die FAQ. Durch die FAQ muß man sich durchwühlen, keine Liste der Fragen. Bis man irgendwann auf die "unterstützten Dokumenttypen stößt:

• "Kernel Traffic" newsetter format

Und weiter hinten:

You will need to create a display specification to tell how to display the various elements of that type.
The easiest way to do this is to let Conglomerate create the display specification itself. Load an example document of the type you wish to support, ideally one with a Document Type Declaration referencing a PUBLIC ID with a SYSTEM ID referencing the document type definition via http .

Das deutet mir doch schwer auf Unix/Linux. Man muß das Programm neu erzeugen? :-(

Microsoft Windows

The initial prototype of Conglomerate was usable on Windows but the latest version no longer works. We're very keen to hear from anyone familiar with building GTK applications on Windows who wants to try to fix things; please contact the conglomerate-devel mailing list.

Aha! Dann war das wohl nichts. Der beste XML-Editor/SGML-Editor ist wohl dann immer noch XMetaL.
