Todd Hollis

When Todd Hollis created the Messiah project, he was looking for a way to make the world a little bit of a better place. But Hollis had already started working for a better world. Hollis, a graduate of the Duquesne University Law program, offers representation to juveniles who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford legal counsel. But he does not just gift them his services: he requires them to volunteer community services hours in an exchange. It’s about making the world a better place: an ideology that does not necessarily entail money. Hollis’ mother, Judith, was an inspiration to him in his youth. When Hollis didn’t excel academically, Judith encouraged him to keep on trying. In 2004, Hollis had a chance to pay her back for all that she did: he gave her a kidney. In many ways, Hollis struggled to succeed in his life. Nearly failing out of high school, he certainly wasn’t envisioning a touching law practice in his future. He kept trying, and graduated with a finance degree, intent on taking over Wall Street. This was not a success. After opening obtaining his law degree and opening his own practice, Hollis began the Messiah project. Yet, to show himself that he could do anything he put his mind to, Hollis recently trained and competed in the 2005 Iron Man competition. His total time was 16 hours, 17 minutes, 29 seconds. Success, Hollis learned, is not always an easy path: but is a satisfying path.
