American Idol Down To Three! Prediction Blake will get his walking papers this week!

, , , ...

I have not written in the last two weeks. To recap what has taken place for the last two weeks. After American Idol's spectacular event of raising money for those less fortunate. Idol raised close to 70 million dollars. Ryan Seacrest made no mention of what was the final count this week! Some of us would like to know.

During the event, American Idol did not eliminate any of the contenders. The votes from the Idol gives back evening would be included in the next week’s elimination.

American Idol had rock theme night were Icon great Jon Bon Jovi mentored the six finalists. Honestly, I thought they all did very well, however I was not! Impressed with Blake's performance, as much as the others. At this stage of the game, the beatboxing has to go! Bon Jovi did a tremendous Job with competitors, better then any other rock group in previous years. His experience and wise expertise really highlighted why Bon Jovi has always been such a success. Bon Jovi is very wise if you listen to him and he seems to be able to tune himself to the competitor’s vocals and give them great guidance on how to enhance their performance and vocals.

We also saw an appearance from President George Bush (I have my thoughts on that; however, I will leave it at that)! The president offered to sing; the first lady with great wisdom encouraged him not to, and advised we had already seen the President dance. If you remember that President was in Africa, and while the first lady showed she had rhythm and could carry herself on the dance floor, the president was confused at the African Style dancing. Nevertheless, let us give the president points for at least trying! I for one am grateful he did not break into a song on American Idol. Can you imagine the president crooning out "Country road" or shaking his thing to "hips don't lie"! Thank-you first lady for putting a stop to it before it began!

Once we passed over this light-hearted moment with the President and the first lady thanking Americans for their generosity, and relived the nightmare of Lakisha smooching with Simon, we get to see who was going home. (Simon seems to try to obtain a smooch yearly)! It really is revolting if you ask me, seeing Simon pucker up and move in for a kiss!

Ryan, who seemed to be remorseful or caving under fan pressure, let Jordin off the hook right away. He told her that he would not mess with her this week. I guess the boo's and jeers got to Ryan.

The two finalists that went home were Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson. I have to say I was surprised at Phil going home; he did much better then Blake over the weeks.

This past week we had the honour of having vintage icon Barry Gibb mentor the final four. Barry mentored the finalists in the same fashion as his predecessors, he gave expert advice, was a real jewel and came across as not only being a star of many decades he was a nice person!

Simon was not in a good mood, he seemed to enjoy grand slamming the performances I am surprised that Judge Judy did not give Simon the smack down that she is famous for. I for one would have liked to see Judge Judy realm out Simon. (Oh but wait this was done to Simon in England by a lady named Edna Moore) Click on the link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yixDe8PZDj8 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEShBUAsPio -- watch Simon being reduced by his elder! It is hilarious! Edna was an 86-year-old Granny. Her comments at the end were so hilarious I thought I would die from laughter.

This week, again, I did not feel that Blake did well, in my opinion Latisha should have stayed and Blake should have been bid adieu! However, it is a numbers game and Lakisha was on the short end of the stick this week!

The final three are now the focus, Melinda, Jordin and Blake will be fighting for the final two spot this week. I am going to make another bold prediction. I think Blake will get his walking papers this week, his beat boxing is getting old, and it really does not fit into every song that he does. While it is nice to try to make a song your own, it would be nice to see Blake do more then he has shown us. The Final two will be Melinda and Jordin!

The final three will perform three songs on Tuesday.

Triumphantly Floundering- Separating the Wheat from the Chaff!

, , ,

Performances were a bit better then last week. At the very least the opening with Phil Stacey was very well done. Jordin Sparks just sparkled and shone tonight. Melinda Doolittle performed and dazzled like a star and a winner. Melinda, Jordin and Phil take top honours for Country Theme Night. Martina McBride did a very good job in coaching the competitors with her knowledge and expertise and made Phil Stacey a potential contender tonight. That is of course if he keeps it up! His performance tonight may have only been a brief shiny moment for him!

I was pleasantly surprised that Phil Stacey managed to get out a tune and a performance that had me thinking, hhhmmmmmmmmmm, not bad, not to bad at all; as a matter of fact Phil was that damm good tonight! When Phil opened and delivered a winner, I started to get excited. When Jordin came out and sang I was getting ecstatic! I thought finally, finally we have a competition! (Poof, boom, ouch)! Then just as my excitement increased it was shot down because (sigh) the boy wonder came out and ruined the whole affair! I have been trying with all my might to stay away from the Sanjaya topic; however his vocal tonight was not just horrible as Simon suggested. It was much worse then horrible, it was a pernicious disaster with all the trimmings of triumphant floundering and as entertaining as watching the grass grow in a wind box! He is so boring in his vocals that one falls asleep half way through the introduction of his name!

Phil came out and delivered tonight, no crack in his voice he came, he sang and he won the battle. Jordin Sparks delivered an excellent vocal with Broken Wing, one of my favourite songs. Then Melinda Doolittle came and as usual banged it out of the ballpark for us. Lakisha, Chris and Blake take second spot, they did not do as well but not enough to send them packing(although I didn’t think Lakisha did as bad as the judges thought, it wasn’t the best, it wasn’t the worst either!). Bottom spot is reserved for Sanjaya. I think that the boy wonder has met the end and that tomorrow night will be his demise!

Moving along, I have to second Simon’s motion. Ryan Seacrest SHUT-UP. There is nothing more irritating then someone cutting another off. I hate to intrude on Ryan’s large ego, but we don’t always want to hear your 1.5 cents worth. I think that Simon was correct in his judgement tonight of Sanjaya. It was horrible and it was not fun to watch or hear!

As much as it behooves me to say this! The Judges were more on par tonight then they have been, all season. Bravo well done.

The stupidest, dumb, dumber and dumbest honours are all rewarded to Ryan Seacrest tonight. Simply because he irritates that hell out of me when he interrupts a person when they are speaking! The show is not all about you Ryan!

Best Vocals of the Night: Melinda and Jordin (tie)
Runner up vocals of the Night: Phil
Worst Vocals of the night- Sanjaya
Who I think should be saying adios: Sanjaya
Who will go home after America votes: Sanjaya

One Extreme to the other-Worst Theme Performances in American Idol History: American Idol recap 03-30-06-Lisa Tucker was robbed

One Extreme to the other-Worst Theme Performances in American Idol History: Lisa Tucker was robbed- American Idol recap 03-30:

This Article is Written and Owned by: Arne

By now most journalists, authors and writers of blogs have all agreed that the 21st Century theme was one of the worst shows in American Idol history! The 21st Century theme night was a complete and absolute disaster. The performances lacked any energy, any highlighting of the competitors vocal range and singing talent, and any spontaneity. Frankly, the 21st century was a snooze fest and most of the performances bombed. What bland, uninspiring performances by most of the competitors.

The problem I saw with the 21st century is that it did not not give the competitors enough guidance, so they erred in their song choices. I think that theme nights should be the way that they have been, guest appearances from those artists who are well developed and integrated in music. Artists that are Icons and have staying power seem to give the competitors more to go on, then simply letting them choose out of a catalogue! The competitors are novices, you can hand them a catalogue of over 5000 songs, they simply do not have enough knowledge or experience to choose a song that is suited for their vocal range and instead of highlighting their vocals as an asset, their vocals sounded more like a liability!

Having said that there were a four show savers out of the top ten. Two of who landed in the bottom three, and one who was sent home!

Lisa Tucker and Katherine McPhee certainly did not belong in the bottom three at all! Taylor and Elliott also gave good sound performances. We also need to remind American Idol, that Kelly Clarkson is a powerful talent today! However, when she started on AI, she did not have the same power in her singing as she does today! Frankly, if one listens to their favourite artists or singing group, first album then listen to their third or fourth album, there is quite a difference in their vocals and even their performances! Lisa’s did a very good job on Clarkson’s song. Lisa was robbed and deserved to still be competing!

I certainly hope that the judges and specifically Simon are thrilled and satisfied that Lisa is gone. We all know that Simon worked at assuring that each week! Nobody should be shocked this is exactly what Simon was working on! As a matter of fact Simon’s final quote on elimination night, i.e. “that anyone could have been sent home, was too little to late!” The fact and truth of the matter is that Lisa had been underrated by the judges from the beginning. I also think that Lisa who smiled through every put down that Simon could give her, is a most eloquent, mature girl, who at 16, knows her potential and what she will be doing in her future. Lisa had commented that she has been working towards a singing career all of her life and it is what she wants to do. I do not think that Lisa Tucker will have any problem in the future of making it. Stevie Wonder and Barry Manilow both were surprised at Lisa’s powerful voice and vocal range! AI was a good experience for Lisa. It gave her insight on what it was like and just confirmed her conviction that she will be an artist of considerable staying power one day!!

The performances were so bad that we saw extremities with two of the competitors, we saw Daughtry continue not to rise to the challenge, to the point that Simon finally told him, that he could not continue to do these types of performances each week and that he went to far! Chris simply shrugged! Then we see Mandisa singing a gospel song! I am sorry, but this is American Idol and as much as I love gospel music in groups like the Mississippi and Georgia Mass Choir, Kurt Franklin ect. I was totally put in shock with both performances given by Mandisa and Daughtry! It was one extreme to the other!

Who should have been in the bottom three were Chris Daughtry, Mandisa and Kelli Pickler. These performances on 21-st century theme night were the ones that were by far the worst in my opinion!

I certainly hope this is not an indication of what to expect each week!

On to other things, Ryan Seacrest looked great each night, dressed in suits that make him look handsome. While Simon Cowell was his usual charming self and was more likened to a Pit Bull! Paula is continuing to show strength in her character by given her own true opinion. I did note that at one point Simon was trying to control Paula! Paula had been clapping for a competitor and Simon grabbed her arm and sat her back down! Paula jerked her arm away from him!

Simon!!! Paula is in fact a woman!!! If she chooses to stand, up and clap because she enjoyed a peformance that is completely and absolutely up to her! If fans of AI do not agree with it or feel she or any judge is showing favoritism! Then we will let them know through our blogs, articles ect ! Simon you need to keep your hands to yourself! It seems to me you tried to pounce and trample Paula’s self-esteem and feminity, by calling her a precocious child! However, Simon, your own actions indicate that you yourself are acting childish! Frankly Paula and Simon have more of are relationship of feuding siblings. Simon instigates many of Paula’s reactions! Simply, the camera’s catch’s only Paula’s reactions to Simon, making her look bad! I would smack Simon to, if he grabbed my arm and sat me down! So would most women, as a matter of fact most men would smack him!

One other notation: I don't know who is doing Ace Young's hair, but it looked horrible, his hairdo was as flat as a pancake!
