American Idol Fans take Idol hopeful by storm- Sanjaya Malakar Dismissed!

, , , ...

At Long Last The Boy Wonder Sanjaya Malakar has departed. As I predicted!!

Sanjaya was the one to meet his demise and a shot at Idol Title. I think that America did justice tonight. According to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest there were over 38 million votes last night. Sanjaya was the one that America said No to and rightfully so. While Sanjaya might be a nice kid and maybe in the hearts of young pre-teen girls he is awesome and stunning. He was not an Idol Title contender. Not to mention that each week the competition gets more difficult and each competitor has to bring it or risk being sent home.

American Idol fans are quite serious about their American Idols, because we choose who reigns supreme in vocal, who is the crème de la crème and is crowned American Idol. I think with over 38 million votes American Idol fans had enough, and took control of who was in and who was out. Very well done America.

Sanjaya Malakar may have a better shot at comedy or acting as opposed to being a potential singer. He seems to like to dress in gimmicks, likes to be different and shows that he likes to be unique. There is an artist in him! I just don’t think singing is ever going to get him stardom. However, I think acting and comedy is the ticket to his success and future stardom. Seriously, this kid vocals and singing talent is limited, but if one reviews his time at American Idol, ACTING is what will gain Sanjaya a more gracious and recognized spot in American hearts. I think Sanjaya can and well make it as an actor! Specifically an actor in comedy! Move over Jim Carrey, you may have some competition in young Sanjaya Malakar! I did feel a little sorry for Sanjaya when he was crying, he is just a kid! I know we did not enjoy his singing prose, but a kid is just a kid!

Clay Vindicated- Gay Soldier Lied!

, , , ...

American Idol - Gay Soldier comes out of closet, but did Clay Aiken? In Clay’s defense!

A year ago I wrote this Article on American Reality TV, now the liar Paulis has retracted his statement. Turns out I was right he was lying! Just proves my point on my first article today about the dishonesty of some Professional Media out there! " Don't believe everything that you are hearing America", looked what just happened with this retraction! Was it a mistake that this guy who accused Clay Aiken of having an affair with him, was mistaken? or was it was what I suspected this guy wanted to get some quick cash! ( The new victimization in America). To think they get paid a ton of money to take cheap shots and lie to us about people. Not to mention the character assination and defamation of character of Clay and that they take out on people. I took a lot of crap and belittlement over this article and my other articles that provoked the thought of American Idol and Clay Aiken fans. I would also like to thank the American Idol and Clay Aiken fans who supported the articles and gave their own truthful comments. Thank-you and we were all right in our conviction that this guy was lying. The Clay Nation Prevailed!!! I have noticed that the Professional Media is not screaming in the headlines of Clay's vindication, I wonder why that is? They were all front and center last year with the Gay allegations. Interesting isn;'t it!
Again, it just proves my point on Professional Media dishonesty! Now the Professional Media is trying to sugar coat the allegations and say it was a HOAX, no it was an outrageous LIE! A hoax is a good natured joke where nobody gets hurt, a lie and allegations, hurts all kinds of people!

American Idol - Gay Soldier comes out of closet, but did Clay Aiken? In Clay’s defense!

Written by: Arne

I don’t know about anybody else, but who believes this Paullus guy? I know I don’t believe Paullus when he says that Clay Aiken picked him up and had a one night tryst with him! I don’t believe it for one second! Me thinks the ex green beret soldier wants to make some green money. I think that Clay Aiken is part of the new Victimization going on in America! It’s called, go to the tabloids, lie about your relationship with a star and then sift through all the book deals, movie deals, talk shows that you can! Enjoy your fifteen minutes of fame. Get a lawyer! Then name your price!

The Aftermath of American Idol browbeating so far this year. Professional Media at its finest.

The Aftermath of American Idol browbeating so far this year. Professional Media at its finest.

This Article is witten and owned by: Arne

Lately the professional media has taking many swings at American Idol and other important issues such as Rutgers. One has to sit back and think, is this really what is going on in the world? Or is this just the opinion of one person or a group of persons who seems to be disgruntled with life itself? First we have the unnecessary Antonella Barba photos, then we have the vote for the worst hoopla, then we have other professionals taking past idols comments on their show, and putting their own spin on it. In the meantime the same show’s announcer is gleefully telling anyone that listens “ I am voting for the worst” and if they close down the show, so be it, America has spoken. I love the words America has spoken! Let’s talk about Professional Media for a moment. In the history of Professional Media, I think America should be enlightened to fact that we are “ spoon-fed” what they want us to think about, what they want us to talk about, and virtually are doing the thinking for us! It doesn’t matter to professional media if what they are conveying to us is the truth and/or if they are leaving out relevant facts of what they are relating to us! No, all that matters is that they get the readers to believe and comment on the crap that they spew! That they become so popular that their word is like the bible. (Its all about professional medias own popularity, own ratings and money

What is baffling about all this is that more then one professional media person seems to be on a quest to try to motivate people to close down a show like American Idol that is watched and enjoyed by over 33 million people. Now why is that? What is the purpose of closing down one of the cleanest shows on television? If we really want to get into the nitty gritty of television today, all we see is sex, violence, aggression and smut! How many movies can we watch in today’s world as a family and not worry about some steamy love scene, that we don’t want our children to see or that we the adults don’t want to see! I don’t need to see somebody getting it on, to tell you the truth! How many music videos out there are very sexual and in some cases violent. I think it is time for America Professional Media to do a complete overhaul on their make-up. One they need to stop putting spins on things that are not factual, real, and true and convey the honest truth to us. Two some of the unflattering photographs that are out there needs to be ignored! A good example of this is what they did to Britney Spears! I am not a Britney Spears fan, but what they did to her by taking a photo of her private parts, should be a call for America to be outraged. I blame the professionals for these freelance photos. The freelance photos are only taken, because the Media buys them for big bucks! They had no right to do what they did to her at all! In my opinion and in many Americans opinion. They had no right to do what they did to Antonella Barba either!

What is the agenda of Professional Media like Howard Stern and The Tony E Fly show? Perhaps their one motivation is not shock, is not trying to prove a point. I think it may be good old fashioned JEALOUSEY THAT WE ARE WITNESSING HERE! Perhaps Howard Stern is motivated because last year, when he announced that listeners would have to start paying for his show, he was met with a lot of ridicule and laughter from everyday people. Sure he has over 600,000 viewers, but in reality that is not a lot is it! in the terms of his shows success. So instead he wages war against a show he has always ridiculed and made fun of and a show that increases their viewers each year! Then we have the TMZ syndrome looming over us. Each year, TMZ seems to have some hosts (some not all) that have ingested too many stupid pills! I don’t think Tony-E-Fly has achieved that much other then taking a young person’s comment, putting their own spin on it and then having their readers make unflattering comments on that past idol contestant.

Give me the everyday blogs any day of the week. At least they are just plain giving their opinion, not putting spins on it and not leaving out relevant facts about news/gossip item. Bloggers are not professional and we have typos and spelling errors, and our sites don’t come with bows and roses (mainly because we are not paying to have the blog) but at least we tell the truth in our articles, unlike professional media.

In ending, don’t be blind America to what some of the professional media out there is trying to achieve, take a stand and if you like to watch American Idol keep voting for who you like! The competitor that you think you would buy their CD! Don’t allow these professionals to fool you! In my opinion, they have a hidden and separate agenda to why they are trying to rally people into closing down American Idol and they haven’t been completely honest with America in my opinion! Yes, let the everyday citizens of America speak! I think the professional media needs to watch out, because if you start going to far and pissing off American citizens, it may be the demise of your own show and not a show like American Idol! If Tony E Fly and Howard Stern want to vote for the worst on a personal level that is their business, however when they use their professional positions that is dishonest in my opinion!

Disappointed in Paris Bennett. TMZ Hosts at it again!

, , , ...

Disappointed in Paris Bennett. TMZ at it again!

This article is written and owned by: Arne

Picking up on a story by TMZ on the Tony E Fly Morning show. It appears that some of last years former competitors are voting for the worst of the show. Paris states that not only is she voting for the worst, but so is a few from last year.

I am very disappointed that Paris and the few others (she did not mention there names) who are reducing themselves to this kind of media posturing)! Paris who had been one of my favorites last year has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Transcript verbatim of Paris talking to TMZ’S

( TMZ announcer) Tony E Fly “Former American Idol contestant Paris Bennett on Tony E Fly morning show! I think the announcer is Tony but not sure!

Announcer: This whole Sanjaya Phenomenon what do you think of that

Paris: I think it’s very very funny

Announcer: Now these guys are all mad at me because I ‘m voting for Sanjaya because he can’t sing and because I think it is funny

Paris: I‘ve been voting for him to

Announcer: Oh you are voting for him also?

Paris: Yeah, vote for the worst thing?

Announcer: Oh so you went to vote for the worst.com you seen all that stuff?

Paris: Oh, of course, we had that during our season! So we are doing that to!

Announcer: It is wonderful to hear that former idols are voting for Sanjaya! That’s wonderful

Paris: Yeah there is a few us, umm, there is a few of us that are watching that are voting!

Announcer: Is Sanjaya a big joke to you, or do you want to see him win because he’s talented!

Paris: No we want to see him win because it will kinda prove that American Idol is kinda losing its taste and it is kinda not going for talent anymore more so popularity! So we think it is a joke and because it’s funny. (Paris laughs)

Announcer: Alright so it is kinda of an anti American idol movement thing going on.

Paris: A little bit, I mean come on like from the beginning Sanjaya has been kinda of stale, so the only time that he had done good was this week, Jennifer Lopez week, this week.

Announcer: So even though kinda, it kinda put me, here in the twin cities you were already known, and everyone knew Princess P and you were at all the events and everything. But American Idol kinda put you on the national map. Even though it helped you you’re your career, you think its time is over.

Paris: I think that it is definitely, now having Sanjaya on it, it kinda reminded me of the movie, do you remember the movie American Dream that came on last year?

Announcer: Yes

Paris: Ok, remember there was the Indian guy or the guy from India, then there was Mandy Moore that’s kinda like what the competition seems like right now.

Announcer: Paris, I appreciate you calling, because it is my favorite show on television, for whatever reason, I think the stuff with Sanjaya is a lot of fun. I think if it does ruin the show, then so be it, then America has spoken! And it ruins the show!

Paris: there voting so…..

Announcer: Exact… people have called up here, (announcer mimicking caller complaints) “oh I am so mad about Sanjaya di di di) you know it’s going to cancel the show!

Paris response of indifference: Well that’s all good! (Inaudible b96) and Sanjaya is on the show it will still continue to be funny!

Go to TMZ to hear the actual audio link:

http://www.tmz.com/category/american-idol/

In summery: Paris called the Tony E Fly show on TMZ stating she is voting for Sanjaya, to prove it is a popularity contest and not a singing contest. The very same TMZ show who’s hosts Kevin and Bean, said last year about Mandisa: "It's fascinating that she can be a front runner and look like she does, yet there's no way 'Whitey' shows up at 280 [lbs.]" and gets in the Top 10. It's not even possible!" I would say that Paris and the few former idols have defeated their own purpose by voting for the worst. If Paris and the former Idols really feel that way and want to do something, then they need to hit the headlines in a different way.

TMZ is double standard if you ask me. Last year hosts Kevin and Bean of TMZ said that somebody with Mandisa’s talents should not be in the top ten or a front runner, based on their looks and weight! This year Tony E Fly host of TMZ states I’m voting for the worst because it is funny and if the show closes so be it! Double Standard TMZ, get your hosts and acts together!

Please read my article last year on Mandisa: Marginality and Condemnation of Mandisa: Contemporary Racialization of Overweight people: American Idol 03-28-06

http://my.opera.com/arne9/blog/show.dml/202217

Kevin and Bean comments on Mandisa:

http://www.mopie.com/blog/2006/03/more-mandisa.html

I am very disappointed in Paris! It sounded more like a sore loser then trying to prove a point. I am sorry I have to say it, while Paris was one of my favorites, I did not think she was the best vocal. I supported Taylor Hicks. My favorites of last year were Taylor, Elliott, Katherine, Paris, Mandisa, Lisa, Bucky. Jose, Patrick Hall.

The former idols are not proving anything, other then they are prepared to try to cheat a more deserving talent! their right to win idol title. Not very well done or thought out by the former idols and/or any of those that are doing this and lowering themselves down to this cheap level!!!!!!!!!

2007/4/10The reasons the American Idol ratings are down one word BORING! Were spoiled! 4/10/07

, , , ...

The reasons the American Idol ratings are down one word BORING! Were spoiled!

There are reports that American Idol ratings are going down each week. Some blame Howard Stern and his quest to sabotage the show, by trying to get his following to vote for the worst singers. Some blame Sanjaya who is terribly boring and a below average talent. While other blame the judges for giving talentless competitors the pass through to Hollywood. Others argue that the voting system is the culprit. I personally disagree with any of the above.

This article is written and owned by Arne:

First, I don’t feel Howard Stern has that much weight, that he could completely sabotage a show that is hailed by millions and millions of viewers. While Stern may have a following of 600,000 people or more, that is but only a small minority of people in contrast to over 33 million viewers that American Idol usually enjoys. Even with American Idols voting system of being able to vote as much as you like and power dialers have NEVER! In the history of American Idol been able to oust the best talent.

America has always chosen the best from original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Burrino, Carey Underwood and last season’s idol winner Taylor Hicks. Considering all the competition vs. these winners the right Idols were voted for and won in my opinion. (Mind you some would disagree between Studdard and Clay Aiken). Sanjaya is just a distraction for the moment. Are the judges to blame? No, I don’t think so, they have to contend with who auditions and pick the best of the lot for Hollywood. From Hollywood the rest is up to us! Are the American Idol voters to blame? No I don’t think so. I think that most of the American Idol fans are serious and take who they want to see win American Idol seriously. American Idol in retrospect gives the power and choice to the people and may even be more popular then some political races.

Having said that, the question remains to why American Idol ratings are going down each week. My response to this is that WE ARE SPOILED! From the beginning of American Idol viewers were treated each year to better shows. Last years show really SPOILED US. For the exception of a few of the final twelve each of last years competitors were very talented! At the beginning many of us agreed that it was going to be hard to choose, we virtually would have liked to see more then one win. Last years show was unlike any past American Idol show. It was full of genuine enjoyable pleasant talent. The competitors brought their pipes, delivered huge songs to the audience and for the most part they blew us away week in and week out.

This year American Idol only has a few talents that are up to last year’s talents standards. The truth is that in comparison to last year, this years’s final twelve cannot sing to the capacity or the degree that last year’s talent did. They are boring in the deliverance of their songs, and many of us all find our minds wondering and becoming bored with the show. When we become bored, we will either do two things, turn to another channel and go back to AI when the few talents that we enjoy sing, or we switch off the show completely. Also when folks become bored, they figure they can afford to miss the show as they have better things to do or watch.

Simply last years American Idol competition raised the bar as it had never been raised before, our expectations of the competitors have increased and in my opinion that is why the ratings have went down each week.

American Idol Review: Giving way to much attention to poor performances

, ,

Were giving way to much attention to poor performances:

This article is written and owned by Arne:

As much as I hate to say this, I am going to for the first time in my life, follow Simon's lead. Yes that is right Simon's lead. On Tuesday, Simon made a comment that he was going to try a different tactic when it came to Sanjaya performance, he simply said, “Incredible". Of course Sanjay failed to see Simon's cynicism in his comment.

I to am going to try a different tactic. I don't see the point in writing about or showcasing performances that are mediocre or just not much of anything. I figure the bloggers are giving way to much attention to piss poor performances like Sanjaya's. So instead I will be showcasing the best performances with a review.

I think that we are all giving Sanjaya way to much attention and keeping him in the limelight. While were doing that we seem to be ignoring the best performances. (or at the very least who we think is the best performances.)

The best performances on Tuesday April 3/07 were delivered by:

Melinda Doolittle, Jordan Sparks, Lakisha Jones, Gina Glocksen and for the first time in my opinion Chris Richardson.

The dumbest award goes to Paula: She was all over the place in her comments, ah ah ah" I am so freaking proud of you”. Yeah ok Paula that means alot to the audience.

The dumber award goes to Simon: “you have great legs"

The dumb award goes to Randy: “You’re an entertainer"

The STUPID AWARD goes to Paula, “Phil Stacey DOES NOT SOUND ANYTHING LIKE THE LATE GREAT FRANK SINATRA AT ALL! PAULA PULLS THIS SHIT EVERY YEAR, AGAIN! THERE ARE SOME ARTISTS THAT CAN'T BE OUTDONE FRANK SINATRA IS ONE OF THEM. IN THE PAST IDOL SHOWS PAULA HAS HAD THE NERVE TO SAY THAT A CONTESTANT SOUNDS LIKE AND/OR GIVES A BETTER PERFORMANCE THEN THE ORIGIANL ARTISTS! THE GREATS SUCH AS BARBARA STREISAND, ARETHA FRANKLIN, MICHAEL JACKSON, STEVIE WONDER AND NOW SHE FURTHERS IT BY TRYING TO SAY THAT PHIL WHO GAVE A "LOUSEY OFF KEY PERFORMANCE" SOUNDS LIKE A YOUNG SINATRA. NOPE! NEEDLESS TO SAY AS USUAL THIS WAS NOT A STELLAR OPINION OF PAULA'S. WHO IS NEXT PAULA? TONY BENNETT OR PERHAPS QUNCEY JONES! THAT COMMENT WAS JUST STUPID!

American Idol - 03-19-07- In Antonella Barba's Defence!

, , , ...

In Anonella Barba's Defence- American Idol 3-19-07

This Article is written and owned by: Arne

Antonella Barba in my opinion was a very talented contender. I really do not feel that she should have been voted off and I for one enjoyed her singing! These so called risqué photo's should not serve to stand in the way of Antonella's dreams or goals of being a singer.

Is Antonella really to blame for them? Let's take the spotlight away from Antonella for a brief moment. Her ex boyfriend, who is a vile less then nothing, deserves to shine in his moment of glory. Those photos’s were personal and had no place in this competition at all!

Antonella is a young girl who made a mistake, so what! Can anyone truthfully say, that they don't have a few skeletons in their closet that they are not proud of?

What a lowlife! Antonella's ex pig friend takes something that was very personal and private and flashed them all over the net! The only exposure I see is that wee willie wonka doesn't have much self esteem and just because he is the dredge of society and likes to go slumming, does not mean that everyone else needs to go with him!

I do hope that Antonella goes on and pursues her singing career, SHE CAN MAKE IT. I mean really, how many singers have made it on sexuality, many! Madonna comes to mind! She made millions on this so called smut! Why was everyone so shocked? We are exposed to sexuality and nudity everyday on televison, in video's. Why is Antonella the example for moral outrage?

My advice to the ladies is AVOID this EX PIG of a boyfriend at all costs. I won't say his name, he is not deserving of that much attention! He deserves nothing more then the profoundest contempt from women all over the world. You know ladies, we women should stick together! It seems to me that men have been exploiting us for many centuries.

It is not the end for Antonella, it is the beginning. Look at this way Antonella, they can't say or do anything worse to you then this pig has. So shine and sing on baby!

American Idol Results shocker 4-5-06- Mandisa out- What utter crock and Bullshit!

This Article is written and owned by: Arne

To see and know that Mandisa has been eliminated is truly a shock to me and too many American Idol fans. When Seacrest announced the results, even members of the audience looked like somebody had punched them right in the stomach.

What in the world happened? Mandisa did not do so bad that she deserved to be ousted. Frankly, Kellie Pickler should have been out of the competition three weeks ago! I for one am very tired of competitors like Kellie, getting by, on a cutesy act, with her whining voice. The minute that dumb, dumber and dumbest say she did not do well, Kellie whines and says I’m sorrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy! It is an act ! What ’s more, the rumour and news reports are that she is always in some little tete a tete with Simon Cowell.on and off camera!

The bottom three was very interesting to me. This needs to be said. Let’s see Mandisa who was a strong competitive singer and was ousted tonight, Paris Bennett another strong vocal and competitor in the bottom three and Elliott in the bottom three. Now what do they have in common, oh yes they have happen to be Afro American or partly Afro American(Elliott). I don’t give a damm what anybody thinks, what a railroad when three of the strongest competitors are in the bottom three not because they did badly, because of their color! Last week Lisa Tucker was ousted, who Simon always made sure he underrated!

Well I call for Black America to get on the phone lines and make sure they vote for Paris or Elliott. It is truly ridiculous to continue to watch, strong performers ousted yearly on American Idol, for some fly by night talent.

I hope Simon is satisfied his blond vixen is still in even though she doesn’t deserve to be there, even though in Simon’s words she is not the best vocal. However, he is smitten with her and that is why he gives her such a rave review.

Both Randy and Paula looked pissed off to me, and I am with them on this. Mandisa deserved to still be in competition.

What ’s more, Seacrest announced that Queen would be the guests. That is rich!!! Simon has consistently yelled, insisted, and insured that American Idol is about finding a POP Idol, now Queen a rock will appear. I suppose that is to appease Chris Daughtry’s need, which Simon predicted right from jump street would be one of the last finalists, along with Kellie Pickler and Taylor Hicks. To be candid only Taylor deserves that recognition by Simon.

My prediction is Taylor, Elliott and Paris. However, they want a guy to win, so I imagine Paris will go soon, to ensure this happens.

Let American Idol and Simon feed off of this statement. You may think the net is the biggest resource to how fans feel of how our show is going, and you may even feel comforted in thinking you had millions of votes. The truth is you don’t hear from all of your fans, who are fast becoming tired of this bullshit every year!!!!

The Many Music Career Transitions of Icon Great Kenny Rogers: American Idol 04-05-06

The Many Music Career Transitions of Icon Great Kenny Rogers: American Idol 04-05-06

This Article is Written and Owned by: Arne

There are nine competitors left for Idol title and it was going to be a night of Country performances. Who better to represent the Country sound but Icon Great Kenny Rogers. Ryan did a good job in giving us Kenny Rogers musical prose and background in country music. Kenny Rogers’s roadmap and journey in his music career is an inspiration in itself. Even before he was Kenny Rogers and the first edition, he had established himself in the music industry as a talent of staying power. Many Kenny Rogers fans still feel today that he has been vastly underrated by the music authorities. To his fans, he is extraordinarily popular, he appeals to all age groups, and to date still sells millions of albums. Kenny Rogers keeps good credible company with other guest appearances such as Wonder and Manilow. I think that American Idol producers are doing a great job in their guest appearance selection. Icons greats like Kenny Rogers who appear on American Idol is a great memorable experience and guidance for the competitors and even for some viewers who may be considering a music career. Kenny Rogers gave honest gentle critique and guidance to the competitors. He pointed out if thought the song or parts of the song was weak. He knew if a competitor was going to struggle with the song or theme, and he also acknowledged if he thought competitors would be able to do more with a song then anticipated.

Ryan makes his presence known on stage and as usual looks good; however, Ryan did not have time to shave. The well-endowed suit and stubby cheeks is just not a match Ryan. It was a night that Ryan traded some grand slam barbs with Simon and that Paula Abdul received the boo nomination! Ryan introduced to the world Simon’s love life and Simon called Ryan a desperate housewife! Randy Jackson looked dapper and spiffy and we saw stars in the audience with Miss Whoppie Goldberg and Jamie Fox. In fact, they should have had Whoppie critique Simon; she would have made mincemeat out of him!

Simon Cowell has gotten himself in a bit of trouble lately when he decided to diss Beyonce Knowles. Simon made a statement that Beyonce is not sexy!!!! Moreover, an average singer! OK, let us separate the wheat from the chaff here; First Simon needs a reality check! Because in the same token Simon is not sexy, he does have a bit of a middle age gut on him! In addition, he is not the most handsome bloke on earth! In comparison to Beyonce who is a beautiful looking sexy woman who does indeed have a mountain of talent in singing and acting and has the staying power required for entertainment. Compare the spice girls talent to Destiny’s child and Beyonce Knowles, there is no comparison that Beyonce and Destiny Child reins supreme. Beyonce Knowles is the full package. Not only should Simon get his head and ears checked, he should get his eyes checked.

It was a night that Simon was even briefly tongue tied, and he related that he did not know what to say. It was also a night the we saw for the very first time Chris Daughtry Rise to the Challenge and show the viewers that alas, Daughtry has a voice and he can sing. For the first time we saw all nine performances based on the theme. It was a night that Paula accused Simon of being a double talker in his critique; to be fair I think that Paula is also guilty of that and so is Randy Jackson. All three judges double talk in their critiques. Just a special note, Simon admits he is no expert on Country music and he does not like Country music, so his critiques are more personal then that of an expert!

First up was Soul Man Taylor Hicks, I continue to love to see Taylor perform. Even on his worst night, he performs and you just cannot help but love this guy! Taylor sang for us John Denver’s “Country Road”. The redundancy of dumb, dumber and dumbest continues: Randy said good song choice! Nevertheless, it was just ok for him! (If you ever notice with Randy, it is always just okor aight)! Paula did not like the song choice and had expected more because Taylor is so full of life, the song did not allow him to shine or electrify the viewers. Simon pit-bull image comes springing out and he asserted that the performance was boring, safe and lazy. I disagree with Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest, I think that Taylor did a excellent job and he at least rises to the occasion each week!

Ryan quipped, safe, boring and lazy, “ladies and gentlemen this is Simon’s love life”. ha ha ,ha, lets give Ryan 100 points for that quip, it was great, I know I enjoyed Ryan’s wittiness.

Mandisa is front and center and sings for us Shania Twain’s “Any man of mine”. Randy said it was a weird song choice for him; it was not hot but showed some personality. Paula did some double-talking and extended that Mandisa can sing the phone book, her voice is amazing, but it was not a good song choice. Simon started growling his discontent and said it was fun and cutesy but he did not like the song choice. I also disagree with dumb ones; Mandisa did a excellent job with the theme on hand.

Elliot Yamin was up to bat next and he sang for us Garth Brooks “If Tomorrow never comes“. Randy loved the performance. Paula loves him and he is a breath of fresh air. Simon thought Elliott was nervous a good song choice but not a great vocal. Again, I disagree Elliott also did an outstanding job.

Baby Paris Bennett is up next who sang Leann Rimes “How do I live”. First, my critique, wow, Paris really hit it out of the ballpark and gave the best performance of the night. She was bang on. Randy (Dumber) said that it was a tough song choice, not good in the beginning but she got it together, it was alight! Paula (dumb) did not feel connected to the song, but Paris is a powerhouse. (Paula was booed at this point) Simon, decides to cash in on the audience’s jeers and boos against Paula, and disagrees with her! He loved the song and it was an excellent song choice. The audience cheers for Simon, who feels redeemed and human! He boosts that he is lovin the transition of who is the most loved Judge. (Feel better now Simon?).

Up on stage base next is Ace Young who sang for us Keith Urban’s “I wanna cry”. Well I was pleasantly surprised at Ace’s performance; he gave an excellent, outstanding performance. Randy was bored, nice song but did not bring out Ace’s personality. Paula trying to redeem herself with the audience now disagreed with Randy and felt that Ace picked the right song choice to go along with his vocals. Simon eating up the audience cheers and craving for more shed his pit-bull image and said that in the past Ace had not chosen the right song but tonight he has and it was very good. Simon is cheered and Simon grins at Paula and Randy!

Next up was that Vixen Kellie Pickler who sang Reba McIntyre’s “Fancy”. Randy eager to give brownie points to Miss Thing, said that Kellie is in her element and he thought it was great. Paula gave a pass with a good song choice. Great night for her. Simon looking flushed as he always does around Kellie (sad isn't it to see a grown middle age man so smitten with a young lass, that he is all tongue-tied). Simon said, that it could not go wrong for Kellie tonight, he hated the song (sureeeeeee you did Simon) but her performance was good.

Next up was Mr. Rise to the challenge Chris Daughtry. Now I know some have said Chris bombed, but I have to give the man his props and due. At least he tried, and overall he did not sound too bad. Obviously Chris is out of his comfort zone, but the fact is he at least tried it. I know by the look on Chris’s face, he hated every minute of his performance, he can be comforted in knowing, that we the fans enjoyed the change in his performance. Randy, emphasized so we could all be reminded that every week Chris did his rocker thang! This week we saw a different side of Chris, Randy then got all emotional, as he tends to do with Rockers and said good job he enjoyed it. “I’ll rock to that Randy”! Paula not wanting to be outdone said that he showed versatility but he stayed true to himself, (talk about doubletalk) Um Paula, he could not of showed versatility and stayed true to his rock roots! Simon who hates country music said it was great to see this side of Chris, but all the competitors choose boring, uninteresting songs and he felt the home audience deserved more then that. (Awww Simon, for a brief shiny moment, you were loved globally!)

Next up was Katherine McPhee who sang Faith Hill is “Bringing out the Elvis”. Katherine started out strong , started slipping in the middle but gave a good finish. Randy liked the song. Paula thought Katherine had found her niche. Simon thought that the performance was weird he did not like it. Katherine responded to Simon” just admit it, you don’t like country music”! Simon did owe up to this fact. 100 points for Katherine for challenging Simon’s critique and making him owe up to the fact he does not like Country. You go girl!

Closing the show was Mr. Sweetness Bucky Covington. I like Bucky; he is refreshing in his nativity! Bucky sang for us Gary Allen’s “Best I ever had”. Randy thought it was aight. Paula thought he was in his element and he shone in his performance. Simon exerted that he was not an expert in this kind of music it sounded ok to him!

The best performances of the night: 1. Paris 2. Elliott 3. Taylor 4. Chris Daughtry (I have to give him a rating today, based on the fact he rose to the challenge).

The worst performances of the night: 1. Kelly Pickler 2. Katherine McPhee

Who will be going home tonight after America votes: Kellie Pickler( just because I think she is losing her country charm with American Idol fans).

The dumbest award goes to Paula for saying that Simon double-talks in his critques which she also does.

The Dumber award goes to Randy: He is aight, just not hot in his critique.

The Dumb award goes to Simon: For commenting on the performances and admitting that, he does not like country music.

Special Dumbest Award goes to Simon Cowell. For the Beyonce Knowles crack.

Special good guy Award goes to Ryan Seacrest: for getting the best of Simon.

Kenny Rogers will be peforming for us tonight, I look forward to this as do many fans!

Clay Aiken: Gender roles and challenges: A Critique Continuum- American Idol- 02-26-06

This Article is written and owned by: Arne

Reading the several articles out there about Clay Aiken and this latest nonsense issue, I did hone in one that had transcripts of Diane Sawyers interview with Clay. This is in part why these women made the brilliant (not) deduction that Clay must be gay, because he had responded to a question that he did have feminine qualities but had said NO! he was not gay!

Alrighty then let us break this particular statement down shall we! First, someone admitting that they have feminine qualities in their makeup does not mean they are necessarily gay. What it means to me personally is that Clay has simply admitted what most American men have, which is the same feminine qualities.

Think of it!! We all now live in a world that has changed and western societies have for the most part changed drastically!! even if you are from the South. Today’s males change their children’s diapers, they cook, they clean (help their spouses with housework) they do laundry, they do dishes, they normally equally help in parenting their child. Due to this change in society and changed perceptions on gender roles, all males can say they have feminine qualities in their makeup. Most males may do all or some of the above duties in their daily life. Does this make them gay and should they be expected to be labelled and stigmatized as gay?

Today’s females equally have male qualities, women work, they take jobs as business executives, police officers, politicians, such as senators, mayors, lawyers, doctors, firewomen, ambulance drivers, sports programs such as hockey ( the Canadian women hockey team just won the gold medal). Wrestling, truck drivers, pilots and in the military, judges and so on. They mow the grass, take out the garbage and so on and so forth. Today’s women also have male qualities due to the same ideologies and perceptions of gender roles in today’s society. Do these daily tasks make them gay?

This is due to progress; men are no longer considered the sole breadwinners in the home and having the women dependent on them for survival. In the old days, women were supposed to be barefoot and pregnant so to speak, and men were the King of the castle so to speak. This no longer applies does it!

Further men take jobs as nurses, as secretaries, and so on. (since men were once dominant in the world of work, there is not as big as a list as with women)! Men also are single parents and raise their children single handily, does this make them gay?

If the perception on feminine qualities are that one must be gay, and that Clay Aiken is gay. Because they have feminine qualities and perform tasks that was once separated to either gander. Well then there are millions of gay people living in America and western society! In a whole! Really what is one’ s definition of a man, that he has to thump his chest like Tarzan and be that big, strong, he man! No my personal description of a man is one that helps rear his children, that changes diapers, that helps around the house.

Males and females over time have changed that old process; both women and men usually work in any duel parent household. Single parents are contrived of either a women or men raising their children alone! The world has changed and the days of a man being the breadwinner and women left at home to raise the children, run the household and have supper on the table at five has been out the window for a very long time. In fact, most parents are teaching their children no matter what gender they are to be independent, and are teaching them life skills, including the above. The life skills we teach our children today are necessary for their survival on all levels including household chores and child rearing!

Clay Aiken is not gay; he is a desirable young man that has morals, values and sound intellect. Clay Aiken is a spiritual person and his conduct and behaviour has been exemplary. The world has changed to this degree as well. The minute that someone comes along that is clean, not into to drugs and that their behaviour is so exemplary and above the norm: Then this society wants to find something wrong with him or her! I think Clay Aiken is an important example to the younger generation and he establishes and encourages great character in not just the younger generation; also some adults who are in great need of this guidance!!

Finally, why is there such an importance attached to whether a parson is gay or not? I do not get what the difficulty is in that thought process. I think as long as it is two CONSENTING ADULTS, in any relationship there should be no issues on gender. There is too much of a gay phobia going on in the world today, for no reason but ignorance if you ask me. Are gay people not human beings? What any consenting adult does behind close doors is their business and should remain their business!!! Further gay people have the same EQUAL RIGHTS, as anyone else on the planet! They have the right to same life, liberty and freedom that we all value. I think there are other social issues that I would love to see taken up! This is not an issue; it is a choice that two people make. Further, Dick Cheney’s daughter is gay! Did it stop his popularity in getting re-elected? I think that but for the few ignorant people out there, that America really doesn’t have a gay phobia, the problem is that those few that do, are the ones that make the headlines!

Clay Aiken’s choice is not to kiss and tell, Clay Aiken’s choice is to value his personal privacy, Clay Aiken’s choice is not to have loose morals or values, Clay Aiken’s choice is to have a spiritual path and he follows that path. It should be left to Clay to determine, when, if and with whom! he will have a relationship with, without the interference of others including flimsy and ignorant interpretations of the law! He certainly does not owe any explanation to anyone on those personal choices! It is Clay Aikens life, not anyone else’s and he should be left to conduct his life anyway he chooses. These allegations are nonsense, they are malicious and vicious from my perception. The only harm that is being done is to a fine young man that has chosen to walk tall!!!

Likeability factor and Some Serious Strong Competition: American Idol 2-21-2006

Likeability factor and Some Serious Strong Competition:
American Idol 2-21-2006

This Article is written and owned by Arne:

Ladies night proved to be a serious strong competition. I was very impressed with most of the girls tonight and their level of singing talent. However, there were two outliers that were not up to par or speed with the performances that the ladies brought! The judges were better at their feedback, however from the middle to the end, they seemed to struggle with conveying their points of view. The song choices were different and refreshing! We heard renditions of the greats and Icons, Stevie Wonder and Gladys’s Knights, Icon Barbara Streisand. Icon Jennifer Holiday, Heart, Musical Genius Christina Aguilera ,Natalie Merchant, Martina McBride, Josh Groban., Diana Ross, Faith Hill, and Alita Adams.

The show opens and Ryan comes swaggering out! Ryan looks perky, his attire is still drab, I absolutely, without question hated his checker shirt! Perhaps Ryan fans should start up a website called Dress Ryan.com Like the site DressKevin.com that made the news. In this way fans could choose what Ryan would wear when he was hosting. Ryan Thanks!!! Idol viewers for watching the show. ( Glad to see you taking my comments seriously Ryan!!!) Ryan’s open line is, “The judges job is over and now you are in control. Tonight we begin to build the Top 12. Ladies first!

It’s a new level of the competition It’s performance time!!! Twenty-four will become the top twelve and six places are for the girls and here they are!! Ryan introduces the twelve girls performing tonight. The guys (Randy’s Dawg pound) are watching from below and they will perform for you tomorrow. Each week two girls and two guys will be headed home until we reach the top twelve. Ryan then announces and of course the judges are here! He intro’s dumb, dumber and dumbest. We get to see some spirited verbal jousting with the Judges ( I guess they were suppose to be setting the tone!!!! Of the show.) Ryan then asks Simon, How he reacts to the criticism. Simon being the elusive he man he wants us to believe him to be, responds “I haven’t had any”.

Ryan looks at him a little fazed and prods “you haven’t been harsh?”. Simon replies, I was defending you! So there we have it, Simon is in denial! It’s not surprising if you ask me. Simon knows he has been criticized for his razor sharp tongue, he was booed tonight and will continue to be booed. Yet, it eludes dumbest that he has been criticized. Ryan moves on and relates to us that Paula is tougher, I would have to agree with that, she was not as lenient as she has been in the past, but she shows signs of reverting back to her old form. Ryan then asks Randy Jackson who he thinks will be American Idol. I really felt that this was an unfair question to ask at the beginning of semi-finals to Randy( for putting him on the spot) and for the competitors. Of course dumber ( Randy) responded that he thought a guy would win it. Yes, Yes we always have to start the season with trying to balance out gender. A girl won it last year, so a guy absolutely has to win this year! Really why bother to have females in the competition if you want a guy to win!

First up was Mandisa, who Ryan said did the impossible she made Simon apologize on television. Ryan adds we love her! All twelve ladies did flashbacks and a narrative on how they got there! Mandisa relates to us she will be singing, a classic by Heart called Never. Mandisa related that she picked this song, because she wanted to prove sisters’ can rock to. Mandisa was very good and she brought it. Randy said,” wow, what a way to start the show. Good song choice, that was hot, she overdid it, good personality, it was good! Paula said: “Phenomenal! Taking on heart is tough, but she did it. Magnificent! What a way to start the show.” After exchanging pleasantries, Simon says, “ He agreed with Randy, it wasn’t a perfect vocal, however, Mandisa threw the goblet and she has an unbelievable personality; we will see her all the way through to the finals of the show! ( I still believe it’s a tad bit to early to predict that!”)

Second up was Kelly Pickler, who sang, How far by Martina McBride, Randy says it was a good performance, but not the best from her. He saw some nerves and there were rough spots. He didn’t think it would be as good as it was, but it was good. Paula says, “ that she has the likeability factor, she sang her heart out and she needed to carry a song through! Simon says he agrees with Paula, she has the likeability factor and she was sincere, she was a nice girl, looked great and a potentially good voice. Simon thought she did well!.

Third up was Rebecca O’Donohue, who sang Because the Night by Natalie Merchant. Randy commented that he thought that she was having a good time and he loved the performance. She was a little off here and there , but the vocal was better than he thought it would be. Paula thought that she’s a charm and that Becky commanded the stage? However and being realistic there were some notes that were off! ( Simon looked stunned and surprised that Paula was coming into her own and being HONEST! With what she was hearing for a change) he said oomph! Paula exclaims with conviction Becky was nervous! Paula advised Becky, don’t over perform and don’t over sing! Paula as much as I am happy to see you being honest with what your hearing, I think you erred there, Becky was not up to par, her pitch, range was all over the place, it was not good at all! In my opinion! Simon said, that it was slightly better then he expected. He said to her that visually she is a ten, however her voice is a six and a half and that the last note was so off! He said that being that it was AI5, that quite good was not good enough in the competition, you have to be great, and that was the reality of it all!!

Aayla Brown, who Ryan felt like a pipsqueak when he was standing with her! Aayla sung for us, Reflection by musical genius, Christine Aguularia. Aayla in my opinion gave a very good performance. Randy asked, are you glad that’s over? Randy extended to Aayla, “I didn’t expect it to be that good and he was pleasantly surprised. Paula agreed with Randy, and added that it was an ambitious undertaking, she was also pleasantly surprised. ( This is were Paula starts to weaken and starts to parrot Randy)! Simon theorizes, that Aayla was probably a hard worker! ( huh, and what did this have to do with her performance) and that we saw tonight the limit were her voice could go, however it was the first time for Simon that he saw some “emotion” and it was more real. It was one of her better performances! ( Like Simon is a expert on emotions)!

Moving on and next up is Paris Bennett, who is the little girl with the big singing voice. Paris sang for us,
The great icon Gladys’s Knight, Midnight Train to Georgia! In which I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative of her song choice. Paris rocked the house, she not only brought she can really blow and flowed with the rhythm and energy of the song! Randy said, This is a hot one America! Randy extended that Paris surprised him and he was amazed and blown away! Paula approved and added that Paris was her Idol! She was Paula’s energizer bunny( ha,ha,ha,ha,ha, this is were Paul really starts sliding in the comments). Paula asserted that Paris was a firecracker and a showman/women! Simon agreed with the guys, she did what she had to do well, she was confident, she had the likeability factor and it wasn’t about being good it was about being great! It was a performance that everyone would remember!

Next up was Stevie Scott who sang for us, Josh Groben’s, To Where You Are .Stevie did okey, it wasn’t her best it also wasn’t the worst performance of the night in my opinion!!! Randy said, Wow, mostly falsetto. Randy then said, honestly he found himself daydreaming, it was non-emotional and he didn’t get it! ( I just want to know one thing, when Randy doesn’t get it, what exactly is it that he doesn’t get?) Paula disagrees, and thought that Stevie did exactly the right thing with the song. Simon belted out, he could not disagree with Paula more! He said it was like being at some horrible Sunday lunch and having a child sing out of tune! ( I think Simon struggled with coming up with his normal witty quotes). Simon then bombed Stevie and said, it was a complete utter mess. Stevie responded, that she knows she can bring it. Simon unmoved responded, not tonight, it was left at home! Paula chipped in, that it is America that chooses, Simon shot back, American won’t be happy with this. ! Really, I didn’t think it was all that bad compared to a couple of others Simon! Hey, I agree with Paula on this!!

Next up was Brenna Gethers, who sang for us, the Icon great, Stevie Wonder’s , You are the sunshine of my life! Brenna did not bring any sunshine to this song and frankly she bombed with it! I personally do not think that Brenna is anything more then an average singer, who only got in, because Simon liked her( they have duel personalities, which appeals to Simon). Brenna also extended to us/we/me( those of us who writes articles) that “Some people have LABELLED her a drama queen in Hollywood week! And she was going to show us tonight that she had a softer side! First the Drama Queen Label was all Brenna’s doing, with her antics, which I note she continued on with tonight’s performance and thwarted her attempt at the softer side! She gave a par performance tonight in my opinion! Moving along, Randy said, All attitude from New York, and that she was probably choosing a safe song! Simply it wasn’t enough for him! Brenna ran off her mouth, that she will be who she is, no matter who doesn’t like it! LOL, yea you keep being who you are, and see how long you last in the competition! Like the Bitternum’s, you will start grating on people’s nerves and they will forget to vote for you! Especially in the wake, that you didn’t give a good performance! Paula extended, that humility and humble pie is what is needed.! ( now I do think that Brenna was halfway listening to what Paula said, then Simon came along with his encouragement! Simon said, I don’t think you have to eat humble pie for anyone, however that was horrible! Brenna and Simon went at it and one is as worse as the other. I personally think that Simon gave Brenna bad advise, because Brenna’s attitude is overbearing and what she really needs to know is that there is a DIFFRENCE in being confident and having a ridiculous bling, bling attitude! I don’t think America will like it or put up with it for to much longer. If Brenna expects to stay in this competition and have people vote for her, then she must sing better if not outstanding and lose her attitude. Right now, the likeability factor is not in Brenna’s repertoire!!!

Next up was Heather Cox, who sang for us Diana’s Ross’s, When You Tell My That You Love Me. Randy who was not impressed, composed himself and asserted, wow, you had laryngitis, I would of thought that you would of picked a song that would of slayed us. It was pitchy, her keys were low and it did not work!
Paula agreed with Randy, and said it started real rough, it wasn’t a great
performance. Simon gave his famous Gettysburg address and extended that it was “ forgettable, it was horrible, she got it wrong, she played it safe, her personality evaporated. Nobody will remember the performance and that she needed an excuse and he would of said no! Ryan chimed in and retorted to Simon that he would of wore a T-shirt under that sweater that Simon was wearing, but everyone makes mistakes!!!! Ha ha ha, lol I have to give Ryan “PROPS” for that one, I enjoyed his backdoor slap on Simon immensely!!! I personally felt Heather’s performance was a trifle bland and unpolished in it’s deliverance. Randy was right I thought it was just me but the keys were low, however, I don’t think she did as terrible job as two others in the performances!

Melissa McGhee performs next and sung for us, When the Lights go Down, by Faith Hill. Randy said, Yeah!! it started rocky, some pitch problems, an amazing performance., but it showed she has a great voice. Paula disagreed with Randy , it was a shining moment for her. She has a sexy sultry voice, and that was the magic of great performances. It was amazing to Paula. Simon says she’s been overshadowed, and that no one would remember her song better then some of the other girls. Then dumbest says, Melissa’s eyes were lifeless!! I don’t think the dumb award will be a hard decision tonight!! I actually agree with Paula and Randy it was a very good performance!!!

Next up was Lisa Tucker, who sang the Icon great Jennifer Holliday’s, I am changing. Lisa banged it out for us, it wasn’t just good, it was excellent, I was surprised that such a tiny girl had such a similar Jennifer Holliday voice!! “ Randy asserts that it was the biggest ambitious song of the night! It was a little rough but she worked it out at the end, Randy gave her props!!! Paula says she is a precious She has a gift and from start to finish she is a star.. Simon says it’s going her way tonight. She made girls five to six years older than her look ordinary. We may be looking back infive or ten years time and this is the night we remember Lisa Tucker going all the way!!!

Eleventh up was Kinnik Sky. Who sang for us Alita Adams, Get Here. Randy shares that the middle was really rough, but she brought it home in the end. He gave her performance a six. He didn’t get it again dawg!! Paula disagreed with him. She looks stunning, had some sharp notes, so what, her performance was powerful. Simon coined, Sharp or not that he saw a problem!!! That there were one or two stunning performances earlier from very young girls, and that her performance was overshadowed by those younger girls.I don’t think that Kinnik’s performance was the best of the night but it was better then Simon related to us!!

Last but not least it was Finally, Katharine McPhee. Who sang for us the great Icon Barbara Streisand’s , Since I fell for you. Randy says wow, another hot one. He always loved her, from the very beginning he was a fan of hers! She is a natural talent, and she had it going on! Amazing!! Paula says she loves her job, it is greatest show on earth. Paula extends her assertion and adds, it taps into the human spirit, great performance, she owned the stage. she’ is going all the way. Simon says there were four very good vocalists tonight and she was the best. First, Katherine was great toniight but not the best in my opinion.

The show ends Ryan thanks us and the band, reminds us to vote for the right person. The competition with the ladies was for the most part strong, and I believe that most of the guys also will have strong performances for us.

Best performances of the night. 1. Paris Bennett, 2. Lisa Tucker, 3. Aayla Brown,
Worst performances of the night. 1. Brenna Gethers, 2. Rebecca O’Donahue. Heather Cox.
Which two girls will going home: Brenna Gethers and Rebecca O’Donahue.

The Dumbest award goes again to Simon Cowell- For his lifeless eye comment
The Dumber award goes to Randy Jackson- because he didn’t get it.
The Dumb award goes to Paula Abdul-for parroting

Kiss Me Your Through! The semi final 24 are chosen: American Idol 2-15-2006:

This is article is written and owned by Arne:

The show opens and Ryan goes through his usual dramatic summery of the events, the intensity, the drama! Ryan announces to us in a most stark tone , “that it takes serious courage for the competitors to hold it together today! You know Ryan your monologue on strength, courage and survival does not help the competitors when they are anxiously waiting!

We saw a series of competitors get rejected with no, no, no, no, no, sorry, thank-you , it was nice meeting you, be proud, congratulations for coming this far! According to the Judges it had to be an unanimous decision, which means that all three had to agree. At least that is what Crystal Stark was told, yet, as the show proceeds, at least one person gets to the semi-final without it being an unanimous decision? There seems to be some confusion with what dumb, dumber and dumbest related to us. It is either unanimous for everyone or it is not!

The time of doom and gloom arrive for some of the competitors:
Bobby Dillard and quite a few others are given their walking papers. Katherine is upset because one of her group members was eliminated. Katherine so Ryan tells us was one of the favourites in the eyes of the Judges. Katherine is given the honour of being the first competitor that is given a green light into to semi final round. Katherine was so excited and pleased she kissed Paula, smooched with Simon and planted one on Randy! Ace asked Katherine who was the best kisser, Randy gets the title and the win! What a star moment for Jackson. We then start hearing series of yes, yes, yes, congratulations, well done kiddo, can I kiss you. Ace Young gets the congrats your coming back! Robert Bennet gets in. Mandisa gets in and also lets Simon know how she felt about his cruel and useless joke about overweight people! Mandisa should be proud on how she handled it with class! Simon felt humbled and demanded a kiss! ( Simon seemed to be getting to use of smooching with the girls.) As a matter of fact Mandisa goes back for a second kiss from Simon, who eagerly obliges! Melissa McGhee also in.

Mark Locklear, is thanked and sent packing. Lisa Tucker gets in even though Simon gives his usual sermon of concern for her age because she is only sixteen! David Radford, Sway Penola, Elliott Yamin all get put through to the semi final. The surprise of the night is that Brenna gets in and Marcy is out! Gedeon McKinney thought you had to have IT! Randy let him know he was in. Simon then commented had he heard Gedeon’s speech, he would of seriously said no! Really!!! Simon, what did Gedeon say that was anymore of an attitude then Brenna? She seems to have a lot of, attitude and self confidence. Simon likes Brenna, didn’t know why but likes her. Simon thought that Brenna would be difficult to work with and perhaps even a nightmare, yet she got in! So far I haven’t made up my mind on any of the twenty four semi finalists. Mainly because we really didn’t get a good chance to see their singing ability or talent! Stephanie Scott the gal that Simon said was lucky about making in tonight’s round, got in. Aayla Brown, Christ Doughty and Paris Bennett, and Heather all were given their welcome to the next round tickets. William Bucky, Patrick Hall, and Kevin Covais are in. April Walsh out.

Here’s the confusing part about split decisions and unanimous to guarantee the competitors in the next round. Rebecca O’Donhue was told it was not a unanimous and the decision was split, however she made it in! Now lets rewind back when Crystal Stark was sent home because according to Simon the moment of truth had to be unanimous! Something went wrong in Dumbville! Nothing against Rebecca, however if she can get in without the three judges agreeing then Crystal should of got in! Simon did tell Crystal the decision had nothing to do with her singing audition! I mean what gives here!

The Bitternum twins thought that their auditions, attitude and behaviour were FLAWLESS and they were ANGELS! I want to know how much practice the twins had, to be able to look straight in the camera, on national television and with a straight face say that their actions were nothing more then top character! The twins as usual were to comfortable with themselves. Mercifully for the American Idol audience they were sent home, for having problems with law enforcement. Criminal acts such as forgery in the first degree is now to blame the bitternut’s exit out of Idol. I presume that the twins will not be finishing their album as soon as they thought! Ryan announces because of the twins difficulties with the law, they were no longer in the competition. C’mon Ryan it was the polite way of saying that American Idol gave the nuisance twins the Royal boot! Kelly Pickler and Tyler Hicks, Kinnick and William Maker claimed the last four spots.

The moment we all have been waiting for has arrived. It’s America’s turn next week. On Tuesday February 21 we will see the twelve girls sing ( at last singing not drama, I hope)!!! On Wednesday February 22 we will see the twelve guys sing. Next week America votes for who their top twelve will be!

The dumb award goes to Simon for telling us and some competitors to make it into the semi finals the judges all had to say yes, only with Rebecca that wasn’t true! You messed up there Simon, I wonder how Crystal feels about that!

The Heat is on! Hollywood Auditions Recap:American Idol: 02-08-2006:
Article is written and owned by: Arne

After more boring auditions then I cared to write about, we finally get to Hollywood. For the exception of a few familiar names we get to see who the judges have given a chance to and yes we got to see hollering, whooping, yahooing, Dave. The first and second day of Hollywood gave us joy, happiness, upset, tears, and anger with the competitors. We saw Paula becoming more of a hard liner for a change, although she attached herself to yet another male that she is a fan of again!, this year! I am sure before the season is over we will see Paula weeping and drooling over yet another young man, telling him she loves them ! The best chuckle the home viewers could get is seeing Simon’s reaction to what he considered bad talent. He looked puzzled, pissed, disgruntled, annoyed, confused ,ready to throw something and even relieved as he heard some of the auditions. We heard all the excuses in the world to why some of the competitors did lousy when they sang, much to my amusement.

The show opens and we see all of the contestants making their way to Hollywood, Ryan’s narrating was dramatic on how the competitors got to Hollywood. There were contestants that were nervous and contestants that were very self assured that they were going to make it to the end. Ryan introduced the ever so elegant Debra Byrd and someone new for the Pianist in Michael Orland. We glimpsed the background singers who were going to back up the competitors. Ryan dramatically advised us to imagine travelling all the way to Hollywood, sing one song and then go home! I thought when Ryan said this that Simon may have been so fed up that he gave everyone the bum’s rush and sent everyone home!

First up was Kelly Pickler, who wanted us all to be put on notice that she was the next American Idol, because she deserved it! Um Kelly my dear, I think your going to have a bit of a problem with that assertion since there will be eleven other finalists that will all think the same thing, that they deserve to be the next American Idol. I am also a little disturbed about Kelly’s song and dance about her poor life! The thing that Kelly needs to understand is wake up and smell the coffee; there is an awful lot of folks that had hard lives and they come through is shining. Kelly has already been compared to Carrie Underwood. The big difference I see between Carrie and Kelly is that Carrie was HUMBLE! And Kelly is not! I am hoping that Kelly will get by the poor me and feel sorry for me attitude and get to singing, because Kelly can sing! She could be the next American Idol, if she would stop feeling sorry for herself! The judges comments is that the timing of her song was all over the place and Simon was concerned( chuckle) if Kelly would be able to cope with the competition at hand. Nevertheless Kelly and the front row got through to the next round.

The next person that American Idol thought was worth mentioning was Patrick Hall. Patrick also has a nice voice, and when he sang tonight it was very soothing to listen to his song. Simon as usual, said that Patrick would have to work on his looks, and that he didn’t feel like he was looking at a star. Simon felt that Patrick had the Clay Aiken factor in him and he was likable. Every year we have to cope and contend with Simon’s hang ups on looks, the fact is Patrick can sing and that is what American Idol is about! Singing! Period! I don’t care what anyone looks like, if I am going to buy anyone’s record, its about singing, how their voice and their song appeals to me. If its all on looks then Mick Jagger was probably fortunate that Simon wasn’t around when he made it, because the world knows Mick wasn’t the most handsome man on earth! The fact is Mick’s music is what made him famous not his looks!

Next up we have the Twins Derrell and Terrell Brittenum who spend most of their time giving us their valuable opinions on American Idol, the Judges and the contestants. Now I understand that freedom of speech is very essential in American Life, however I would think that Derell and Terrell would be more concerned with the next round and making it to the final twelve! Derell was up first, he wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t outstanding this particular night! Simon let him know that he wasn’t impressed at all and told Derrell that he could say that he wasn’t looking at a winner for one minute. Talk about your heartbreak. Derrell thanked Simon and the Judges, but inside he was seething at the humiliation that Simon slapped on him!

Twin brother Terrell was up next who faired better with the judges comments then his brother did. Paula said that she liked Terrell’s audition better then his brother, because Terrell showed a range( pause) of colors? A range of colors? Now what exactly does this mean to the viewers? Beats me, I would be interested in hearing Paula’s explanation of this! I realize the Judges are trying to give better feedback then they have, however, I would like to see them use words that their audience can appreciate in that feedback! At the end of the Terrell’s and Derell’s auditions, they were put through to the next round along with others. Anyone put through rejoiced but Derell was not happy with the Judges comments and he said as much over and over again! The twins also let us know that the choice of songs that the competitors were given were limited and not up to their standards! They sounded off that some of the songs that were sung, that anyone could make it through, including Bo Bice, Constantine and last year’s idol winner Carrie Underwood. Carrie did sell 2.2 million copies of her album when it was released. I said Carrie could blow.

The next set of twins Joshua and Jarrett Simons did not make it to the next round. However, I must say these twins were very mature, eloquent and distinguished about being told no. They said that they were just turning seventeen and they were not going to stop! We will see these boys in the future, they are talented, they have a good sound attitude about what they want and where their going in life! Of course we couldn’t of moved on unscathed by the ongoing comments from the Brittenum twins. Derrell and Terrell thought that the Simmons twins were to talented and shouldn’t of been let go. As a matter of fact they said that they were going to talk to someone about hooking them up. Now here’s the problem I have with the twins if they have connections to the music industry, why go on American Idol at all, ? hell get to it and make your first record deal.

Moving along we saw the good singers who could all blow who made it to round two and the bad singers who gave us every excuse in the book to why they were off key in their singing. We heard that they were not feeling well, they had laryngitis, they were a little hoarse, stuffed up with colds/flu’s, it was the piano backup Simon quipped after hearing the many excuses, “Michael wrecked another dream!“ Simon summarized the excuses as “ It was the amp, the piano, the tonsils and the glands” that got in the way to delivering a good competitive song!

There were times that we viewed Simon looking like he was going to vomit if he heard one more bad singer. He looked frustrated and even enraged with very little talent in the auditions.

Last but not least we got to see “The Dave” Hoover, he addressed the other competitors by people of the universe and Lords of something! He whooped, he hollered, he screeched, but he didn’t sing for us again! Paula and Randy looked amazed and Simon had a smug “I knew it” look on his face. Paula and Randy should have been embarrassed for putting Dave through to Hollywood. At the end Dave to my relief didn’t make it through. While Dave was entertaining,I would not of wanted to put up with him for all of the season! However, Dave is star material in another way, he is weird and this universe and its talent producer’s like weird!

In ending we saw clips form past shows, were the judges were given a dose of their own verbal medicine( Simon) In Season one, one competitor stood up for himself, and Simon ended up calling him a loser! Season two, tempers boiled, there was in house fighting with some of the competitors. In season three the competition and being American Idol took second place for some of the competitors. In season four the groups fell apart. We also got a glimpse for next week of a fight between Simon and I think the Brittenum twins, Simon steps up and tells somebody that he fed up of their Hissy attitude. It will be interesting to see what the competitors response will be to Simon. We also saw one of the twins saying he doesn’t do groups! I think that the twins better get with the program, they needed to do the groups and do their best in order try and make it to the final twelve. I think it’s obvious to some of us, that probably didn’t happen.

Comment from the dumb, dumber and dumbest this night. Paula Abdul gets the award of being the Dumbest this evening. She was coloful! Ninty nine make it through to the next round and sixty-seven competitors go home!
