I was thinking about a couple from Belgium who came to Rio de Janeiro; in other words, tourists. It happened last month. There is a boat (some boats, actually) which transports people who come from Rio (capital) to Niteroi and vice-versa. I was going home from college and that couple was there, looking out of the window at the Guanabara Bay, taking some pictures and speaking in a weird language.
As I had nothing to do except being sat, I went towards them and I asked, in English, what language they were speaking, and for my surprise, it was German! I have already heard German, and I couldn't recognize that! I don't know, but that German sounded like French to me. Maybe it's because they're from Belgium, and both languages are official there. I mean, perhaps an accent is inevitable.
Well, I talked to them a lot, and in the end they told me they wanted to go to MAC, or Museu de Arte Contemporanea, located in Niteroi. I helped them catch a bus to go there. All right, why am I telling this? It's because since that day I've asked myself why a person comes to another country and knows nothing at all about Portuguese, nor a word, and worse: doesn't know a clue of how to get where they want. It's not a good thing in a country where you can be robbed at any time. Come on, it's Rio! Be smart! What if I wasn't there? Who would they ask for information?
At home, I asked myself how they got to go "home". I supposed it was a hotel in Rio (capital). But there's a bus for tourists (the guide may speak English) which constantly goes to MAC. Maybe they got on that and right now they are in Belgium, laughing at their crazy adventure of knowing nothing about anything, and talking about not being lost because a Brazilian guy helped them.
There's no words to say how much I enjoy listening to Drum'n'Bass and to electronic music in general, but I can say (write, actually) about an English band called The Qemists. They're known by me through Pendulum, in a nothing-to-do moment, when I had been reading about DnB and bands focused on it. Pendulum e The Qemists are the most known, according to some searches. There's a song of them called On The Run which is dancing and very nice to be heard! And here it is to be downloaded by anyone. Just enjoy it:
I can't believe this weather! It's been so hot this week in Rio (and in most of the places in Brazil) that it makes me feel like I am in summer... or on the Sun (that's me overreacting, rofl)! Well, it began, I don't know, last Friday. But last Friday and Saturday it was "acceptable". I mean, you could walk without melting. Even on Sunday it was possible. But then the oven was turned on, lol.
It's an uncommon heat that's being reported constantly in this country. It has already reached 40°C, or 104°F, but it seems like being 42°C or more. Now I can remember a day, possibly when I was between 14 and 16 years old, when the thermometers reached 42°C, or 107°F in Rio.
So, what can I do about the weather now? Well, nothing. The way I (and everybody, I guess) have found to refresh myself is taking lots of baths (is it countable?), besides drinking water all the time. But there's a good new: it won't last! Till next Monday there'll be rain (at least I hope so)! That's the most distant Monday ever for me. The problem is that when the rain comes, I'll boil away.
This is just another funny video you can find on YouTube. When I watched it I laugh a lot, for sure. It's about a girl who tells her mother what she'd do if there was a monster to scare her. The name of this post may give an idea of what I'm talking about, lol. Watch it and laugh too:
Tá, e qual é a diferença?
As I read yesterday, the trio Lasgo has released its new album with another vocalist. I didn't know the (current) older one was outta the group. I don't think I knew because it's been a long time since Lasgo hasn't been heard here. Anyway I've been listening to the group's new album called Smile, and all I can state is that there are cool songs, a typical Eurodance style which I like very much. For anyone who appreciates it, "Lost" is attached here:
It's being commented (at least where I read things) about Flychelangelo, an artist without a name who shows his cool work using flies: they're his models, lol. What he does is quite simple: he glues the flies on a paper (those special papers for drawers) and then makes some lines (with a special pencil for drawers too) that will define what each fly is doing. On the picture above, there's a fly vomiting; another one asking "why is it taking too long?"; another one leaning its hand against the wall as it wouldn't stand forever; etc. Besides being creative, it's funny as well, isn't it?
There's a new television series which is said to replace LOST when it comes to an end: FlashForward. I've been watching it while I've been waiting for the last season of LOST (about to be aired next year). The main subject is a 2-minute-blackout which happened to everybody in the world at the same time, as if they slept, causing crashes, explosions, etc. But during these 2 minutes, they had a vision of the future, exactly of April 2010. It's still the first season, but it's being cool according to what it's being showed. I laughed when I saw an Oceanic Airlines' outdoor in the first episode, a neat reference to LOST. Well, all I know is that I'll replace one for another because after all, LOST won't last forever.
I've been listening to Coldplay a lot lately. As it's already been said by me, I really enjoy listening to songs with beautiful melodies, and Coldplay is very good at doing it. Violet Hill is a song from the band's new album Viva La Vida which is attached here for anyone to download. But here's the point: it's not Coldplay's, but a Pendulum's version. I mean, Violet Hill in a Drum'n'Bass beat! I love it!
Can you believe this is a watch? It's a Japanese one whose name means "curved line". It's an interesting concept to see what time it is, released by Tokyoflash to illustrate a new idea. For some it may seem complicated to be understood, even for me (before). The "L" means the hours and the circles mean the minutes. Anyway, there's a problem about this watch: if you're walking somewhere and someone asks you what time it is, you'll lose too much time to answer quickly, lol. Even not being an ally in this case, I want one!
