Opera in Linux: Sidebuttons not working

, , , ...

Had a problem with sidebuttons on my mouse not working for back and forward (button6 and button7).

Got it fixed:
In the /usr/share/opera/ini/standard_mouse.ini file, there are the two lines:
Button6    = Back
Button7    = Forward

Comment those out or remove them, and add:
Button8    = Back
Button9    = Forward

Voila!

Fixing Speed Dial

, , , ...

I've recently downloaded Opera 9.20, the first fucked up thing that I experienced is the disappearing of Speed Dial links...

My solution was to do the following:

I went to C:\Documents and Settings\Vladislav\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\, opened speeddial.ini, added my crap to it:
Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding

[Speed Dial 1]
title=Google
url=http://www.google.com/ig?hl=nl

[Speed Dial 2]
title=Gmail
url=http://mail.google.com/mail/?disablechatbrowsercheck=1

[Speed Dial 3]
title=Google Reader
url=http://www.google.com/reader/view/

[Speed Dial 4]
title=Tuplad’s Profile - Users at Last.fm
url=http://www.last.fm/user/Tuplad/

[Speed Dial 5]
title=Tuplad @ MySpace
url=http://myspace.com/tuplad

[Speed Dial 6]
title=del.icio.us
url=http://del.icio.us/Tuplad

[prefs]
folded=0

Saved it and made it read-only.

Ta-daaaaa!

Recovering Opera settings if you had Multi User before

I've recently upgraded Opera to 8.02, and I dont know what went wrong, but it installed itself as Single-User.

I saw that all my settings, bookmarks, mails & chats are gone -> :furious: .

I've opened the file named OperaDef6.ini, and found this:

So I changed it to this:
http://img332.imageshack.us/img332/5641/multiuser21fq.png

I restarted Opera ...

All settings are back :wink:

But remember:idea: It only works if you had a Multi-User settings BEFORE you installed the new version of Opera :happy: .

Hope this helped.

PS: You can find the settings stored in this folder:
X:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\Opera\.

Page popping out while surfing ?

I get alot of mails in my inbox, those are moslty GPTR(Get Paid To Read) mails ...

And its EXTREMLY annoying when you click on the link and that page just popups ...

Here's the solution:
Go to Tool -> Preferences -> Content,
http://img332.imageshack.us/img332/3682/js26mz.png
Choose Javascript Options,
Unselect Allower Lowering Of Windows and Allow Raising Of Windows

Hope this helped :rolleyes:
