Here’s the scenario.

I own a 2 seater sports car. Not sensible, but affordable...



When I have some rubbish to dump I want to take it to the local dump, which is 5 minutes up the road. I also want to make 1 trip, not 5000 as I negotiate the small matchbox that is my rear boot, coupled with my remaining seat.

So to me the sensible suggestion is to hire a van, fill it up, making the 1 trip, and dumping the lot. One slight problem, the local dump doesn’t allow hire vans, or any vans with company logos. Bizarre?

The biggest problem for me is, I have a poxy 2 seater, how is it possible to dump my rubbish? The answer…

…I have to drive out of the county, into the adjacent one, then back into the county again and visit another dump, who (even more bizarrely) allow hire vans, trailers, and helicopters perhaps to dump whatever the hell they like.

This does solve my immediate problem, but does make me slightly annoyed. The dump that denies hire vans was the same dump that at one point wanted proof of ID to prove where you live before you were allowed to dump anything. I suppose you could be an international dumping terrorist cell working together to bring down government, by overfilling our landfills to create havoc and madness. Driving from dump to dump, trying to put wrong what once was right, each time hoping the next dump with be the dump home…

Anyway, I did write to the council, as it did seem silly, and I wanted their take on it. They wrote back with a pointless letter, and a leaflet with local dump opening times. I suspect they are possibly as interested as you are dear reader. Still if you made it to here I think you deserve a reward, which will be…

I love smoking.

Not very socailly acceptable anymore, at least not in this country .





But despite my love for the filling my lungs with toxic smoke, i have decided (under some pressure from other sources) to give it up.

Its day 2 already (day 2 night time!), and i can still taste the acrid smoke on friday night, when i had the last puff. Its funny how much it must of affected me. I had a dream friday night, and in it i vividly rememebr telling lots of people how i'm giving up smoking. I did plan this through quite well, i've been cutting down on smoking and i had it down to about 5-6 a day. But you know how you can get that best cigerette, the one you really need. Well i'd fine tuned it to those 5 being the best of the day. Even now i'm thinking 'well its only 5 a day, its not even really enough to do much damage'. But part of my plan was telling most people that i'm giving up, and no one likes public failure. At least in private you can be dissapointed in yourself, but you could smoke that out of you with a few cigs! I've also chucked or given away any "nice" food in the house. By nice i mean fatty. I'm scared most of all of putting loads of weight on, then doing the worse thing, by starting smoking again anyway!

I've got the inhaler things, which do seem pretty good and although i'm getting that pang in the belly, and them constant reminder that something key to my life is missing i'm pretty confident i can do it. Works gonna be hard i guess, but there are only 3 chances for fags during the day, and i'd cut out 1 already, so onyl 2 chances to really crave. The last thing to decide is do i a: go out and smell everyones elses smoke during break times, therefore getting a slight but possibly painful fix, or b: stay indoors, missing out on a break, trying to be occupied (surprisinly difficult at work) and focus on another tough and rewarding game of solitare.
