Unless you watched Life in cold blood (there releated to the ones that ate their mums skin!) you are probably unaware of what it is. It is a type of caecilians, legless amphibians. Caecilians (Gymnophiona) are the 3rd group of amphibians (well technically 'lissamphibia'), the other two being the groups of frogs and toads (the Anura), and the group of newts and salamanders (the Urodela). This particular speceis is Typhlonectes natans which is a fully aquatic species from NE south America

here is one going to the surface for air

For more on caecilians go here and here on Darren's blog.
Next are my glass catfish Kryptopterus bicirrhis
These are native to SE Asia. If you look at the photo you can see an are the opague area at the front which are the head and internal organs. The rest of the fish is transparent and this is all see transparent muscle and skin.Last and not least are my freshwater algae eating shrimps (Cardinia japonica?
Also known as the Yamato or Amano shrimp these eat up the leftover food (as well as dead fish!) along with algae. They are fasinating to watch. I have had the get fairly large and produce eggs but they need brackish water to spawn successfully, which isn't possible in their current tankWell thanks once again to everyone who has helped me reach the 1000 visitors mark. It does make me wonder how amny some of the great blogs on here have if I can reach 1000! Be interesting to hear actually. Hopefully a trip to somewhere interesting will happen tommorow, will see what the weather does. Snow is forcast.....

I ended up with some shubunkins once but they were stolen from the garden!
