Regents Park

I also visited Regents Park yesterday. There were a few heron about and feeling cooperative. This one posed at a nice distance for a reflection shot

And this guy sat nicely in the flowers

Too illustrate exactly how close you can get to a heron in Regents Park this photo is uncropped and taken with no zoom (i.e. with the lens at at 36mm)

I also managed a nice backlit shot of the next heron

The large brood of red crested pocahrds is a bit less numerous now, but those that are left are doing fine

A common tern wizzed through and caught a fish. I manged some just about ok photos

Last up is this crow panting to keep cool - I guess it's not so great being dark black on a hot sunny day!

Wow, I'm amazed you can get so close but I guess it comes with the setting. I have to tread very softly around herons around here! (Not that I see them landed very often anyway, given the dry landscape.)

The herons which we have here are too shy.
