Norsey wood and Wat tyler country park

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Last week I went to Norsey Wood and I got a few close ups of the wood ants there

Later on in the afternoon I went for a walk around wat tyler. I found a young common lizard basking in the sun

And a robins pincushion gall. This is a growth that occurs on wild (dog) rose when a wasp larva infects a bud, and it grows into this gall.

There was also a fair bit of red bartsia growing in the long grass

You do seem to have some luck with lizards!

Those ants are a fierce looking bunch. The lizard is a beauty. I've never seen a pincushion before. Amazing!
