Cormorants and herons in raphaels park

, , , , , , , , ,

On Saturday morning I headed up to Raphaels Park, where there were 3 grey herons about

The cormorants were also there again, there numbers having grown to 9, most of them perched in the top of the trees

Some of the cormorants started hunting and flying around

When one tried to land he was intimidated away

But he managed to land on his second go, despite the intimidation

On my return visit to the park in the afternoon I managed a few photos of a grey squirrel, leaving the sigma 150-500mm on

Excellent shots! Very interesting way the bird's bodies twist on landing.
