Parakeets, canada x greylag goose hybrids and other birds at Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park

Other than the owls featured a couple of posts ago, I saw many birds at Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. The most obvious was probably this ring necked parakeet hanging around one of the feeders.

On the fence nearby a couple of starlings were posing.

And a great tit waited its turn for the feeder.

Down at the Serpentine, the lake that stretches across both parks, a Eygptian goose was napping on the solar boat platform.

The normal greylag x canada goose hybrids were around too

As well as some normal greylag geese

A great crested grebe was hunting around a fenced off area

And finally a seemingly wild but tolerant pair of gadwalls posed just off the lake edge. I took these with my 100mm macro!

Nice photos Neil, but the ringneck must have been lost or an escapee from captivity, unless you have a feral population of Indian Ringnecks?

Neil, another great post. You are having great success!
They are all really good.

Wonderful shots! The little drop hanging from the beak adds something special to the shot!

That first shot of the parakeet is absolutely perfect up

Thanks everyone

@L2D2 - there is a large and growing feral population of ring necks in SE England. There is a roost in SW London with 1000s of birds!

There are many feral populations of exotic species here in the U.S., too, Neil. California, Texas and Florida have huge populations of various exotic species. These were ports where shipments of birds from other countries came in, and were put in quarantine stations. Many escaped and reproduced. And have done exceptionally well here. Like most illegal immigrants. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/BigGrin.gif -
