Kestrel mobbed by jackdaw

After the last post on a buzzard being mobbed, here is another bird or prey that didn't fair much better. This kestrel was happily hovering away, not far from where I was standing.

While down at the main lakes in Richmond Park I spotted a group of birds in the sky. It turned out to be a buzzard (a first me within Greater London) being mobbed not just by jackdaws, which is not such an unusual sight, but by ring necked parakeets as well!

On Tuesday I headed up to Richmond Park and got plenty of photos, but for now I'll I just post this one of a fallow buck taking it easy

On Monday, with the forecast clear skies I headed in for a 'dawn raid' to Wat Tyler CP. The tide was still in quite a way, but receading. Down at the second bird screen the sun was just creeping high enough to light the far side of the creek, where a heron was standing in the morning sunlight

Can you tell Im running out of titiles for posts on Wat Tyler Country Park. These photos are from Friday. On getting out the car, the sun had yet to make a full appearance, hiding behind the cloud as it rose. These geese passed over head and I had to rush for the camera

A couple of weeks back on a sunny lunch time walk, we came across an area of hawthorn (not far from 'weasel alley' where I photographed the weasel in the last post) that had become a sun trap and was teeming with common darters and migrant hawkers. One common darter was defending his bench from intruders
He was so obsessed with this bench, when he landed in a bad spot I gave him a gentle nudge and he refused to budge!

A week ago Iw as at the Wick Country Park in Wickford. There wasn't much about, but the resident swans and geese. I got a few photos of the swans, even though the light was rubbish

On the morning before the spotted flycatcher, I went for a walk around Wat Tyler Country Park. I checked the fleet for the lovely mist but I had no luck. The sun was shinning through the reeds though
