Apologies for the lack of posts recently, to be honest Ive simply not had many photos to post about or the time to write some interesting stuff about wildlife in general. Last weekend was quite unproductive, with very little seen (I missed out on the Shrike at Stodmarsh, despite visiting the site Sunday). But I did get this meadow pipit at Seasalter on Sunday, which was a nice consolation

On Friday morning, I had a foggy start, and most of the wildlife was either out of sight in the fog or waiting for the sun to burn through. There were plenty of spiderwebs highlighted by the low sun and dew that had condensed on their threads

Last Sunday went to Reculver in search of waders. Unfortunately the beach was nearly covered by the tide when I got there, and being Sunday morning the area was swarming with dogs and their walkers. I held out little hope of seeing anything but gulls, but went for a nice walk anyway. On top of the cliff is Reculver country park, which is a long thin park with a path running along the cliff and another along the border and a 10m or so band of long grass between the two. Amazingly, despite the constant stream of dogs on both paths, the long grass held 2 or 3 skylarks

This is the last post on what I saw and photographed on Richmond Park. While wandering round we past a small plant with a few small copper butterflies on it

It was such a nice day at Richmond park that we diecided to stay until sunset. The sunset wasn't that great but I did manage some silhouettes of the deer.

Carrying on with my photos from my visit to Richmond Park with Daniel Bridge (see his blog in the side bar), the main reason for visiting was the red deer rut. Although I saw very little actual rutting, the stags were certainly displaying rut behaviour. One thing I noticed lots of them doing on the day was licking their lips as they approached the hinds (females), as the first stag I came across was doing

After the last post on a buzzard being mobbed, here is another bird or prey that didn't fair much better. This kestrel was happily hovering away, not far from where I was standing.

While down at the main lakes in Richmond Park I spotted a group of birds in the sky. It turned out to be a buzzard (a first me within Greater London) being mobbed not just by jackdaws, which is not such an unusual sight, but by ring necked parakeets as well!

On Monday, with the forecast clear skies I headed in for a 'dawn raid' to Wat Tyler CP. The tide was still in quite a way, but receading. Down at the second bird screen the sun was just creeping high enough to light the far side of the creek, where a heron was standing in the morning sunlight

Can you tell Im running out of titiles for posts on Wat Tyler Country Park. These photos are from Friday. On getting out the car, the sun had yet to make a full appearance, hiding behind the cloud as it rose. These geese passed over head and I had to rush for the camera

Im fairly sure they were greylags, judging by the noise they were making
