Wat Tyler invertebrates

On Friday I had a quick walk around Wat Tyler looking for damselflies. Sadly the blue tailed I spotted the day before was no where to be found. I did however find this orange tip butterfly.

Velvet mite feeding on a dead fly and some other wildlife

On a early morning walk around Wat Tyler I came across one of those random sights you sometimes come across. On a broken fence post a dead fly was being scavenged by a red velvet mite.

Red breasted goose, chiffchaffs, blackcaps, butterflies and beeflies at Wat Tyler

Yesterday morning on another early start and the suprise of the day was this red breasted goose.

Not the best pic but this bird is not usually found in the UK. Its believed to be an escapee from a collection but still nice to see.

Other than the owls featured a couple of posts ago, I saw many birds at Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. The most obvious was probably this ring necked parakeet hanging around one of the feeders.

I had an early start at Wat Tyler this morning hoping for more migrant birds and possibly some reptile and invertebrate life. Sadly there was little of the last 2 but I did find plenty of birds, including this dunnock.

Wolf spider colts foot and a rainbow at Hainault forest country park

Last weekend I popped over to Hainault Forest Country Park to look for some frogs. There was planty of spawn but he frogs were long gone. I did find this wolf spider though
