Bushy Park: deer

, , , , , , , , , ,

He is my first post on my visit to Bushy Park. Ill start with the obvious residents, the deer. Much like Richmond Park the two species of deer present are fallow deer and red deer. About 10 minutes walking into Bushy park we noticed a herd of red deer which was being guarded by a stag.

Later we even saw him bellowing and chasing other males, almost as if he hasn't realised the rut has finished!

On the other side of the path was a herd of fallow deer, including a white one.

And some red deer mixed in. This one obviously didn't realise they had company

In the afternoon we came across a couple of white bucks. The one with shorter antlers is a youngster, I wonder if its the older buck's offspring?

Then again, there was another contender for it's fatherhood a bit further along

On the way out, near where we saw the first herd, a male posed nicely in front of the houses. Who'd have thought you could have this view from a London house

thanks everyone.

I forgot to mention that it was so cold that there is frost on the antlers of the stag in the first photo!
