Bushy Park: woodland gardens

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Here is my second post on Bushy Park. The following are the photos from the woodland garden areas which are fenced off from the deer and (at least in theory) dogs. I'll start with the Mandarin ducks, this one of a male flaping its wings to be precise. It wasn't quite the angle I wnated but came out ok

Here is a male just floating around in the freezing cold

And one of the females in the sun

I also spotted a cape teal that was in one of the pondsbut I already knew it was there from the blogTricia's Tales

I got a close up shot of an egyptian goose

All day I ahd been seeing ring neck parakeets but had no luck getting a decent photograph of one. But then a pair started courting at a reasonable distance

And then a jackdaw posed in the sun, bringing out the details in its feathers

Hello and welcome to the UK WILDLIFE BLOGBushy Park: coots on ice

Mandarins are beautiful.

Wonderful shots. I love all the colours on the Mandarins. Are the ring neck parakeets native or escapees?

Dudley - thanks

Cakkleberry - thank you

Adele - they've got to be our prettiest duck, even if they are not native

RobinL - the ring necked parakeets are not native. In fact all the birds in this post (except the jackdaw) are not native to the UK! And all but the cape teal can be found feral in the UK. Im planning a post on the parakeet at some point
