Exploring the fauna of Britain

Common and ruddy darters (with a small red-eyed damselsfly)

, , , , , , , , , ,

On Monday I also managed a quick wander around the Damselfy pond and Lake. At the pond I saw a brown hawker and found some male ruddy darters

By the Lake I then found some common darters

and a few male small red-eyed damselflys. This lake I believe was the first place they were recorded in Essex

On the otherside of the lake I saw something rather amusing. A family was feeding the ducks, but had there dog of the lead so it kept diving in after them (not getting anywhere near them of course). So did they put the dog on a lead? Nope, they just shouted at the dog which took no notice! lol! Its times like this I wonder how humans ever got this far! :D  :D

Nice shots! I've had no luck at all finding darters locally this year. In fact the number of the larger dragonflies is woeful in my usual haunts. Very odd, but nice to see that you've got some round your way.
