Cygent riding on its parents back - I challenge you to not go awwww...

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

On saturday, after visiting Wake Valley Pond, I popped into Raphaels Park, and I so glad I did, because I was greeted with this sight

Got a few close ups too.

And this is the best of the day, and up there with my best photos ever I think

EDIT: Also I recently entered the 'mind the bird' competition run by the RSPB and TFL, where only bird photos that were taken within 5mins of a tube station could be entered (via their flickr group). I checked the competition homepage this morning and noticed two of the feature photos are mine, so hopefully that puts me in good stead for the results next month

These are wonderful photos. Wonder what happened to other cygnets?

Neil 9. June 2009, 20:58

thanks L2D2. Last year all the cygnet disappeared. There are pike in the lake and crows about, and of predictably in my area, plenty of out of control dogs, so they may have been eaten/killed by one of these.

Superb set of photos. Swans are always so tricky, but you've managed to keep the background up as well in the earlier shots. The close-up are total Awwwww!
