Tame squirrels and macro fun

Yesterday I headed to Raphaels Park a bit later than sunrise in the hope I would avoid the bulk of the dog walkers, which I had some success with. I wanted to avoid the dog walkers so the grey squirrels would be more cooperative and come close, so I could try out my new 100mm pentax macro lens :smile:

mallard and ducklings video

Here is some video I took a couple of years ago, one evening in Bedfords park, of a mallard mother looking after her brood and being very tolerant of a coot. The next day I saw a Havering council tractor plough right across this corner of the lake over this nest. Thankfully the family had moved away beforehand. Enjoy the video and look out for the ducklings tucking up under warm mum

Emperor dragonfly in flight

For two years Ive been trying to photogrpah a male emperor dragonfly, and on Sunday, on a quick wander round bedfords park with the new set up, I spotted one. I walked over to the bank, pointed the camera, the dragonfly hovered striaght away and I got this
If only they were all this easy!

(I didnt get another decent shot after, so got dead luck with my first shot!)

Orange tip butterfly and more

At the end of last month (the 29th) I was in Bedfords Park and I came across a female orange tip butterfly that seem content to sit and be photographed, which is most unusual for this species. So I got out the raynox macro adapter and took some photos with it on the fz7 and with out on the fz18
