mallard and ducklings video

Here is some video I took a couple of years ago, one evening in Bedfords park, of a mallard mother looking after her brood and being very tolerant of a coot. The next day I saw a Havering council tractor plough right across this corner of the lake over this nest. Thankfully the family had moved away beforehand. Enjoy the video and look out for the ducklings tucking up under warm mum

my, haven't they grown!

About 3 weeks ago as part of my long post exam tour of the parks of Romford I wandered through Raphaels park and photographed a coot feeding its chicks(see here, second photo down). I visited again today and in roughly the same spot was a brood of four chicks: they all seemed to have survived and they,ve grown!
