Stag Beetles

On Wednesday, I was sitting at my computer when I large insect flew past my window. As I was thinking that it was an odd time to see a dragonfly, it dawned on me that it must have been a stag beetle. A wander round the garden resulted in a low fly over and eventually finding this female on the pear tree.

Bedfords Park with the panasonic fz 18

Bushy Park: deer

He is my first post on my visit to Bushy Park. Ill start with the obvious residents, the deer. Much like Richmond Park the two species of deer present are fallow deer and red deer. About 10 minutes walking into Bushy park we noticed a herd of red deer which was being guarded by a stag.

Here are a couple of videos from Bed fords Park on Friday. The big stag has already staked his claim over the females and was even chasing them away from the fence whwn the schoool trip was trying to feed them! Here he his calling out to the males in the next field:


And here he is patrolling him females, with his head held high, letting the other males know who is in charge

On Wednesday I popped up to Bedfords Park. I have photos to show later, but hear are a couple of videos first.
