Valentines day at Grove ferry / Stodmarsh

On Valentines Day Sue and I headed to a nice hotel with a resturant in Grove ferry, but it was closed so we thought we would do the planned 'walk after' first and see if they opened when we got back. Snow in Bedfords, Rise and Raphaels Park

Here are the photos from last Wednesday. The snow was still thick, despite the sunny weather and the fact it hadn't snowed for a day or two. Walking through Rise Park, I noticed something moving in the ditch right next to me. There, flicking leaves like a blackbird, a metre away, was redwing! It moved of but I could get within about 3m of it with ease, by far the tamest redwing I've ever encountered.

Ingrebourne valley - Kingfisher

Today I went for a wlak in the Ingrebourne Valley, which included a walk through Hornchurch Country Park and to Berwick Pond. The water level was high in the river and the path was covered in frozen puddles in places. There wasn't a massive amount of wildlife on show in the morning, just some lapwings on the frozen marsh. So I crossed the bridge over the Ingrebourne and walked on up to Berwick pond where there were some swans
