Ill get back to proper posting soon, but I had to post this following clip after laughing my head off watching it on TV on Sunday. Its from the series 'last chance to See' which is a wildlife series seeing how some endanger species are faring. This episode was about the Kakapo - the worlds largest and rarest parrot, with a hand reared on featuring in the clip and, well, hand rearing has its consequences!
Here is some video I took a couple of years ago, one evening in Bedfords park, of a mallard mother looking after her brood and being very tolerant of a coot. The next day I saw a Havering council tractor plough right across this corner of the lake over this nest. Thankfully the family had moved away beforehand. Following on from my earlier post on the spawning common frogs, these are some of the videos I recorded on the same day. In the first video listen out for the low, almost motorbike engine like call of the frogs, and there is a short bit at the end showing a male calling a bit closer up
Anotehr video, this time a clip of the nesting colony of black headed gulls on the left hand side of the island the avocet in the previous video was nesting on.
Ive been going through my old photos and found loads of old videos I recorded with my camera, so i'll start putting some on here. Too start, here is a video I took ages ago of some black ants attacking a caterpiller or larvae of some kind near Conyer.
