Martins Haven - dolphins and birds

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Well I've finish my photos taken on Skomer, and this post is what we saw after we left the island that day. Leaving the island on the boat we got lucky and saw a small pod of common dolphins :DI was told later by a member of staff at lockley lodge, that this a rare sight from the skomer ferry, and she had never seen dolphins from the boat!

When on a trip to Skomer, you have to park your car in a National Trust car park at Martins Haven. So since we had paid to park and we were back on the mainland by mid afternoon (due to limited ships in a day we had to leave earlier than we wnated too) we thought we would explore the area. Up on area nearest Skomer Island, known as the 'deer park' I saw lots of linnetAs you can see the sun decided to emerge permantly a few minutes after we were back on the mainland

There were also some skylarks

Further along on the cliff edge a raven was calling with all its might

Heading back to the car park we spotted a pied wagtail picking off insects from the stones on a little stream across the path

It was looking at every angle for them!

And finally back at the campsite a blackbird posed nicely

Dolphins are always fun :D though I've yet to find a cetacean that is easy to photograph :insane:

Lovely shot of the linnet  and the raven is in classic pose!
