Exploring the fauna of Britain

Regents and Bedfords Park

, , , , , , , , , , ,

Yesterday in Regents Park I had a brief walk with the wildlife officer where he showed me some good bird localities and I saw this silver Y moth

Then I wandered around the ornemental pond where I found this mallard posing on the waterfall

On the Island a pair of black swans are nesting

I also found a few herons tucked behind the vegetation by the lake

I also witnessed this mistle thrusgh being fed by another on the ground, so I imagine its one of the fledglings from the nest I reported on previously

The weather and the light were so good when I got back to Romford, that I went to Bedfords Park, where I finally got a half decent photo of an male orange tip butterflyI found one that sat still for more than 2 seconds!!!!:yikes:

I also got a photo of a speckled wood butterfly

I also saw 3 broods of mallards on the lake. Now the next bit I need your help with: which of these photos of teh ducks do you think is the best?

On the way home I saw a singing blue tit

And this drone fly, Myathropa florae

raphaels park and the thing(s) in the bathroom!Stomarsh wildlife

Of the ducks...
The first one is interesting from the point of view of 'completeness' showing both parents and ducklings.
The second is more artistic, the ducklings forming a lovely curve around the mother duck. Further, the mother appears to be looking at the camera.
The third shot is great because the ducklings are not all facing the same way and also the mother is really looking at the camera and you get a nice profile of her.
