An couple of finds from my garden. First this Large Yellow Underwing caterpiller

And this bee, yet to be identified(I love the eye in this shot)




Ive ordered my raynox macro lense so expect lots of insect macros this year :smile:


EDIT: the bee is a female Anthophora plumipes

Canon 30D, with a Tamron SP AF Di (IF) 200-500mm 5-6:3 as my main lens. My old Sigma 28-300mm 3.5-6.3 lens isn't bad for macro but I'd like a better one, to be sure.

I think the raynox dcr 150 lense i bought for my fz7 bridge camera works fine on the end of a normal DSLR lens. Might be worth checking out as it only cost me about £25 with the universal adaptor

Do you have a book of caterpillars? I found one in the garden on Sunday.... goodness knows what it was but I'd love to ID it. Looked more like a grub than a caterpillar (it was underground). Look forward to the macros! Jane
