This photo showing the under side of the head, with the mask clearly visible - this shoots forward to catch its prey

This is the second very large (6cm) nymph


And a third nymph

Also found was a great crested newt tadpole

and a smooth newt tadpole

There were loads of (lesser) water boatmen

and backswimmers


water snails

and mayfly nymphs

A few tiny Hapilus immaculatus water beetles turned up

ANd this planarian flatworm
