Also in the SAME tree was a wood pigeon and this stock dove

Nearby there was family of swans, possibly the same pair I saw last year in the same area



We then walked along the path by the lake. There were insects abound, including the oranage soldier or bonking beetles and this lovely Strangalia maculata long horn beetle



In the hide we could see some distant herons and cormorants and this flock of greylag geese

On the handle for the steps down from the hide I noticed this bee

I also managed to photograph 2 butterfly species. This meadow brown


and a of white butterfly

The swans family are simply amazing!

@ adele - these beetles must emerge at this time of year as there popping up on blogs and on flickr all over the place
I saw one at stodmarsh around the same time last year too

Turtle dove is a real find, I am jealous. Maculata Beatles..I agree but they are very impressive.
