visit to kew gardens

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

A few weekends ago I went to Kew gardens. The weather wasn't great so I didn't get many photos but I did manage to get a few nice shots. The daffodils were out in full force

There were some nice snowdrops too
This female mallard is either very lucky or doomed to an unpleasant end, with what is known to happen to unpaired females when they meet a group of unpaired males
There was also a rather tolerant little grebeI took lots of photos but few came out in the very overcast conditions
There were a few peacocks running around
And I found this family of Eygptian geese

They also have a marine aquarium there, but its always hard to get photos in aquaria. Best of the lot was this garden eel
I also got this mudskipper(one of my favourite fish)
And this fiddler crab
And in one of the glasshouses was a large pond with some small livebearers and some very large 'normal' fish and catfish. I think this maybe some kind of shovelnosed catfish

So much for being to busy revising to post....p

Another visit to Riverside country park: 3 firsts for 2008Bedfords park: Pond dipping and minibeast hunting, with a dash of rutting deer :)

Wonderful photos! Such happy flowers!
That is one very cute Grebe. And Mama Goose with her pink legs lol
I've never seen a mudskipper before. Very interesting!

Nice pictures up I've been meaning to get down there myself as I haven't seen it in the springtime. A tolerant dabchick - that's a good find! I remember Kew's almost tame jays and green woodpeckers, which surprised me no end when I went there about 18 months ago.
