What is Oxport ?
Monday, May 29, 2006 2:41:49 PM
Oxport is a small program written in Delphi to
convert Opera bookmarks and contacts into the
Windows Address Book and Internet Explorer's Favorites.
As those apps. are supported by nearly any other
software you should now be able to export your
Opera contacts and bookmarks to virtually any other
communication suite, website, blog etc.

No installation required, just unpack and copy to any folder
Oxport does not create any ini files nor does it write to the registry.
I did not have many opportunities for an extensive testing
but it works for my configuration:
- Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 SP2 EN
- Opera 9.00 beta Build 8414 EN
- Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2869 EN
- Windows Address Book 6.0.2900.2869 EN

Known Problems / Limitations
Monday, May 29, 2006 2:24:41 PM
Known Problems / Limitations: (WAB:=WindowsAddressBook)
WAB is quite sensitive on the data structure, so when you get error messages
during the import in WAB revise the according Opera contact and try again.
Most commom problems occur on Opera's email field (WAB allows only one there)
Another wired fact is that WAB can only import ONE email-adress for a single
contact, so I moved additional addresses to the notes-field in WAB, also some
other information will occur in the notes field.
The Opera Contacts have a completly different dataset - so you can never
get an exact copy !
Oxport converts Opera to WAB contacts as followed:
OPERA=>WAB
Name => Name
Url => Web page
Created => Notes
Description => Notes
ShortName => Nickname
Active => Notes
Mail => e-mail
Phone => Home Phone
Fax => Home Fax
Address => Home Street
Picture => Business Web Page

Why I made Oxport ?
Monday, May 29, 2006 2:13:35 PM
I really like the Opera browser and also it's email Client is quite allright for me.
Anyway, from time to time you need to export your bookmarks and contacts
to another application, upload to your prefered webmail client etc.
As much as I'm amazed about Opera's various features I'm not lucky about
it's limitations in exporting contacts and bookmarks.
The goal is, to get Opera's contacts and bookmarks into a format that is widely
supported and on any windows pc available - so I choose to export opera's data
to a format that is readable by the windows address-book (WAB) for contacts and the
internet explorer for importing bookmarks.
