A modern cat's ideas...

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are

I thought I might share some thoughts about self growth and self discovery, as I picture them myself.

On the path to self growth and personal development, the biggest challenge of an individual is to discover in the core of his mind and heart the things that define him and distinguish him from his peers. Emotional maturity is attained only by embarking on the journey towards self discovery. Finding the real ‘you’ is a difficult and sometimes frustrating task, but it is always rewarding: it enriches your knowledge and builds character.

Everyone is confronted in the stage of their adolescence with the natural, yet confusing question: ‘who am I?’ Only the bold ones will dare to search inside and outside of them for the answer. Growing up means giving up and accepting ideas, preserving values and creating new ones, asking and answering questions, hearing and ignoring voices. All these sophisticated mental processes will eventually lead the person to being able to discern between right and wrong, between infancy and maturity, between himself and the world. For these to be accomplished, courage is necessary. Courage is the key to opening your eyes in front of a new mental and emotional perspective, to growing up into a mature individual that understands his own feelings and ideas.

Identity seeking is a natural, revelatory and fulfilling experience that every individual pursuits. One can never reach a degree of total understanding of oneself, but the mere fact of having the courage and determination to engage in this journey is what makes the difference between being a grown up and being a teenager.

As a conclusion, I might also add that our self growth and identity seeking tasks are constantly accompanying us, even throughout our adult lives, simply because they define us as humans wandering through a world of our own.

Meowies!Meow, meow? I'm back!

Foarte frumos, Simona Anja. Felicitari.

I dont yet know what knowing oneself means. But I do know what I'm like, and can be like. That does it for me, for now. Often we hold ourselves under our own scrutiny and only see us as who we'd like to be, rather than who we are. I just hope I always see myself as what I am now and today.

Nice post. Loved reading it.

It's a continuous never ending evolution.
Always surprising you that it went the way it did.
You just discover that you are a discoverer overwhelmed by your discovery's and intrigued by the idea that there is still so much to discover yet.
