He had great stage presence and his crew Infamous Mobb backed him hard (no homo) Big Noyd and Ty Nitty were in the place among others. Prodigy performed quite a few solo tracks and many classics off the Mobb Deep albums. Peace to the slore with the dope ass who was grinding my cock all night (pics included of shorties ass). All in all great times. See ya in 3 years.
Peace to Dj On and On who proposed to his girl last night.

Oh what a great day! Today I met Lisa Loeb I hate to sound pussy but ive had a crush on her since what? 1991? well a long ass time hahaha. She had a Nice In-Store appearance at Newbury Comics today (jan 24th,2008). The place is really compact so the view was bad all I could see was lisa's face from a distance but it didnt matter, she sang beautifully and very impressive on the guitar. She talked and joked with the crowd reminscing about her days in Boston when she went to Berkley Music School. She performed her 1 hit wonder "Stay" and it was incredible she sang it perfect. Lisa sounded exactly if not better than she did on tape/cd.
It was a pretty impressive performance overall and I wish I had a better spot so I couldve taken some pics but usual you get them and my ugly mug.

Copywrite,Kingdom and Vast Aire rolled through Boston last night on there
Waterproof Tour,, The Midway Cafe is basically a shithole and the turn out was terrible and im guessing thats because the venue cuz last time copy came he was solo and packed the upstairs at the Middle East this time there was roughly 20 people there. The performances though were on point by Copy and Vast ,,, Copy shined out the his performance as always is deadly and on point never stumbling he shows that hes the most underrated cats in the game and in front of hundreds or thousands killing it and giving the same energy when theres only handful of people in the place..

as always big ups to Leedz and Ricky Mortis

Yes as the title proclaims DUCKDOWN in boston! On the 28th DUCKDOWN came to boston and rocked the place. First stop was the UGHH store starting with some interviews of Rock and Ruck and then leading to a performance by Special Teamz (EdoG,Jaysaun,Slain) in which they killed! Statik Selektah and Sav Kills in the place as well! It was basically a party on hunington ave yesterday smoking blunts and drinking brew with Special Teamz and Boot Camp Clik. It was outstanding and the night wrapping at The Middle East where Leedz threw another banger with Dre Robinson,Special Teamz and The Boot Camp Clik.

Review of this whole event will drop soon....

Aesop Rock,Rob Sonic, Blockhead and Dj Signify and the Octopus Project Live @ The Middle East 9-23-07

The show started as many others do people crowding The Middle East to get inside to see their act perform. Tonight its Def Jux vet Aesop Rock
and fellow label mates Blockhead and Rob Sonic. Aesop and Blockhead have a history with Boston both attending BU and meeting there some years back, I guess you could say if it wasn't for Boston you might not hear the great music from each of them today.

Blockhead and DJ Signify both jumped off the show, Blockhead behind an apple computer supplying the beats and Signify behind the turntables scratching and mixing it up. These two work well together keeping the place live while pumping spaced out beats to hip-hop classics and obscure gems that you probably haven't heard in sometime. I specifically remember them mixing a biggie track to go right into Chris Isaac's "Wicked Game" it was a nice touch and they played something for everyone's musical taste which doesn't happen to often. This security guard I was talking with said "this is the best DJ set I've ever heard/seen, these white boys can really crack out the beats they're amazing".

Next up was the Octopus project, they were a gang of four which consisted of a bassist, guitarist, drummer who were all wearing white shirts with black ties and a female keyboardist with what looked like Bobbsey haircut from the fifties wearing a blue short dress and looking strangely attractive. These guys were different to say the least. They sounded like prog rock with no vocals and very electronic sounding. The crowd seemed to really enjoy them and were some what of change of pace from the Blockhead and Signify set, since they were running and jumping around the stage very amp'd. At times the set was eerie, often sounding like sci-fi movie soundtrack they performed around 8-9 songs and their set came to a lovely finish.

Now the headliner and the man everyone was waiting for Aesop Rock. He ran on to stage greeting Boston with open arms his back up Rob Sonic right behind him. This is the second time I think I saw Aesop Rock perform before the last time being at El-P's Fantastic Damage CD release party and I wasn't too impressed with his performance, I think I've changed my tune. Aesop had tons of energy and had the crowd eating out of his hand. Performing songs throughout his and Robs catalogue the attendees were singing along with every word they spit.

Rob and Aesop looked like they were having a ton of fun on stage and at one point Aesop stopped the music to say "some cities and places you perform it's simply a job but when I come to Boston this is just fun I don't think of it at a job" I thought this comment was a very good look. The Middle East was a cool 100 degrees and everyone was pouring sweat I'm not sure if it was from the number of people at the sold out show or the fire rhymes these guys were dolling out. Clearly Aesop rocked The Middle East and it was one of the better shows I've attended this passed year.

Shouts to Brendan @ Biz3, Aesop Rock, Blockhead, the big security guard and always Leedz and Ricky Mortis.

  • Atmosphere, Grayskul, and Luckyiam Live @ Lupos in Providence, RI 9-21-07

Atmosphere, Grayskul, and Luckyiam Live @ Lupos in Providence, RI 9-21-07

Last night the Rhymesayers crew tore into Providence and I was there to witness it go down. I got to the venue at around 6:15 because I had an interview booked with Grayskul. I get to the doors and to my dismay Grayskul and the others are stuck in traffic but this was expected because I know the routine and delays of traveling from big city to big city. The crowd begins to grow outside lupos and I'm the first person in but was again disappointed to find out because of the tardiness of the crew the guest list hasn't made it to the doors.

I watch the crowd barrel through the entrance hungry to see Slug and company tear down The Heartbreak Hotel. Finally I see the production manager coming to the door with the list and walk with him in and get my pass and let through the door. People are gathered around the bars like a frenzy consuming as much alcohol as possible. I joined in the festivities and two Sam Adams later the music starts rolling.

The theme from Weeds(Show time show) fills the room and Luckyiam from Living Legends takes the stage ripping and roaring for the crowd to sing along. As I get closer to the stage I see Lucky looking his best rocking white ski goggles and a top hat, although his get up seemed to be some kind of joke his performance was not. He hits a button on what looked to be his MPC and the music starts. Lucky controlled the audience from the start and you could truly see why hes a "Living Legend" performing each of his joints without a stumble. His beats went from somewhat soothing to spaced out and I assume I could say the same for lyrics. Lucky did four or five tracks and then introduced the respresenters of the Northwest and the mighty Oldominion crew Grayskul.

Grayskul came out strongly from the start with a DJ beside them and Xperience(featured on the Facefeeder album) backing up JFK and Onry on the mic. The crew flowed through each track making you want to just scream you head off. JFK was hyped for sure reaching out to the crowd and spitting his fast style for the fans, while Onry has a little bit of a slower pace but sounded so damn crisp! They both did ,I don't think I could even distinguish a live recording from the record last night.

The third or fourth song in they did Prom Quiz, one of Grayskuls bigger tracks and the crowd loved every second of it. I observed girls grinding with other girls and random dudes rubbing strange girls tits with wandering hands falling down their jeans. Grayskul apparently brought the baby making music last night. Shortly after that they performed some new songs off there new album "Bloody Radio" which I thought were outstanding and I think the crowd did too. Although only five people in the place admited having the CD to JFK but I'm sure 1000 people left there with it in hand.

Grayskul performed for over 40 minutes gracefully leaving the stage and handing the mic back to Luckyiam. Next up is Mac Lethal I'll be honest I don't know anything about this guy and I missed his set because I met Grayskul in the back to do our rescheduled interview from a few hours earlier (ill post the interview later). The interview went very well I thought, even after rocking a fairly long set they still had a lot to say.

After the interview I walk back into the place to hear Mac Lethal leave the stage. The place is now packed to the rafters with people, to walk around now was a chore bumping shoulders and stepping on feet was my game plan to get back to the photo section. Thankfully I made somewhat of a nice repore with Atmosphere fans and they did all they could to clear the way for me. Atmosphere is not only Slug the MC but also a full band from DJ to bass, drum, guitar and multiple keyboarders.

The band assembles and Slug takes the stage the crowd is going bananas! Little girls in the front row are being crushed against the security bars by the movement and the energy in the building. Slug grabs the mic and does what he came to do and that's to give Providence a damn good show. One thing I can say about Slug is he is a man of many hats, he was switching hats from song to song which seemed to have a theme to it.

Performing his lead off song wearing an old curved cap, to a more upbeat song rocking a hat that he may have gotten from Hunter S. Thompson. Slowing it down and getting intimate with the crowd sporting a cowboy hat. But no matter what hat he was wearing one thing was true, the crowd absolutely loved him. I think I saw some young bitches crying like he was Michael Jackson or some shit. And like Michael Jackson, Slug left these kids touched. Atmosphere truly showed why they are one of the biggest acts in underground hip-hop today from the live band killing the beats and to Slug crushing the mic with his word play. I left impressed and happy and I'm guessing anyone who didn't get kicked out of the place had the same feeling.

Special thanks to Teal @ Biz3, Grayskul (JFK and Onry Ozzborn) and the great staff at Lupos.

Got a chance to meet Lisa Lampinelli yesterday. Needless to say it was a great moment I personally think shes one of the funniest female comedians of all time and easily one of the best stand up acts right now in comedy.
She rips everyone and leaves no stone unturned pushing the bar for freedom of speech and still capable of having fans of all shapes, sizes and color.
