A flyover for passers-by in Hanoi was opened on October 9 at the Giai Phong – Le Thanh Nghi T-junction in front of the Bach Mai Hospital.
This is the first bridge of its kind built in Hanoi with the aim of reducing traffic jams and accidents for passers-by. The flyover is situated at the main transport point of the city’s crowded gateway where thousands of patients and their relatives as well as students cross the roads everyday.
The flyover has four spans and is 93.2 metres long, including a roof and lights inside. Total investment is estimated at VND 6 billion.
Mr Nguyen Huu Sung, director of the management board for maintenance of urban traffic works, said that the second flyover will be built at Cau Giay roundabout.
N.B.: The second flyover is actually being built in front of the Hanoi University of Transport, near Cau Giay roundabout.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris on October 1 during his current official visit to France.
...
France is remaining Vietnam 's top European partner in all areas, the PM said, stressing his hope that French investors will pour more investment into Vietnam , particularly in building transport infrastructure, energy, telecoms, banking, finance and farm produce processing.
The Vietnamese leader highly appreciated France's development assistance for Vietnam, providing the country with EUR 1.4 billion from now until 2010. He expressed his wish that the President supports projects to upgrade and restore French-style architectural works in Vietnam, including the restoration of Hanoi's Long Bien bridge, the upgrade of the Hanoi Medical School and the construction of an urban railway system in capital city.
(...)
N.B: So, what is the progress of "the construction of an urban railway system in capital city", especially the Hanoi Metro's Pilot Line, now? A General Consulting Services contract between HRB the Client with SYSTRA has been signed or not? When will the Feasibility Study (F/S) be approved by PM? When can the detailed/technical design be started and finished? What about the Land Acquisition/Clearance both at the Depot and along the Alignment and Resettlement problems? Etc. Pending questions...
