Google Chrome, my feedback list(s)

, , ,

I've been playing around with Google Chrome, and so far, here are my gripes and praises about it. Now I know that this is only a beta, and that all the features aren't in/finished, but I'd like to say this stuff anyway.

Positive:
  • The download manager looks really slick, and easy to use.
  • Very clean interface.
  • Smooth animations.
  • Search Engine editor. One of the better features of Opera.

Negative:
  • I can't import my bookmarks from Opera, or an .html file.
  • The fact that gmail.com comes up as a security threat...
  • Inability to change the tab bar from the top to the bottom of the URL bar.
  • After a moderate amount of web browsing, the URL bar becomes sluggish when typing.

This list is a WIP, and hopefully, will have a ton of positives, and no negatives for future releases.

opera iz a prety kewl guy, eh brakes nd isnt afraid anything

So, Opera decided to eat itself the other night by crashing every time it's closed, and consume more RAM than it normally does. I started off my troubleshooting by uninstalling/installing it several times. But I recently found the fix. I apparently fixed it by deleting the preferences folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Acheron\Application Data\Opera). Upon doing this, opening Opera again, I noticed all my preferences were gone (no duh) and it no longer crashes/eats RAM. So if anyone else is having this problem, try this fix.

PS: I am running 9.50b, however, it seemed to do this with 9.24 aswell.

so i herd u liek opera pt2

After a week or two of using Opera as my primary browser, I can easily say that I am now an Opera user.
I've been using the Opera 9.50b version, which supports bookmark synchronization (woot), and I love it. All I have to say is keep up the good work, Opera Dev.

i herd u liek opera

So, I've been trying to get myself to use Opera as my main browser because of Maxthon's use of IE and the flaws in it. While I know that the IE engine has a ton of flaws, etc etc. I like the fact that it just works (for the good, and the bad) on the web. However, I've been working on web design lately and have realized that IE is a massive Nazi about how a page is written. I've been down the Mozilla path, and I won't go back.

So I'm basically stuck in between a rock and a hard place. On one side, I've got Maxthon: fast, Microsoft.com/Live.com happy, automatic bookmark, settings, and skin syncronization. And Opera: passes ACID2, good skins, secure, functional.
