Episode 1
Every time we say our feelings are because of situations or people, we are
blaming them for our state of mind.
Discipline people and get work done but without fluctuating your state of
mind, which means work needs to be done but our happiness is not dependent
on it.
Each one of us is responsible for our feelings. People are not responsible
for how we feel and we are not responsible for how others feel.
We can take care of our thoughts and actions, but finally others will
create their own feelings and we should not feel guilty if others are
creating pain.
Nothing and no one is in our control, other people’s mind may not do what
we want, we only have control on our own mind.
Episode 2
Irrespective of things happening outside, we consciously choose our
feelings inside. We are shifting from blaming to personal responsibility.
Become aware of typical situations or personality traits in people like
dishonesty, laziness, being late etc which cause irritation, anger or hurt.
Now consciously choose to remain stable in response to people’s behaviours.
Even if something has happened in the past, we cannot blame the past for
our feelings today. Our feelings today are entirely our choice and our
responsibility.
Everything outside is a stimulus – past experiences, present situations,
planetary movements. Irrespective of the stimulus, the response is our
creation.
I the soul am already peace, love, contentment. Nothing outside needs to be
perfect for us to experience our own qualities, we already have them.
Episode 3
People don’t insult us, they give their opinion. We take their words and
make them our identity and then use that identity to create hurt.
Mood created in one situation, if not corrected, gets recorded in our
subconscious. Any trigger will bring the pattern from the subconscious to
the conscious and very soon this becomes our prevailing mood.
Do not make the emotion your identity, like I am sad, I am aggressive. It
is a creation, it will pass. If we identify with it, we expect it to come
and accept it when it comes.
Face the emotion. Do not try to escape it by distracting your mind with
movies, alcohol, working, holidaying or talking to people.
Time cannot heal us. We choose how much time we take to heal ourselves.
Face the emotion and find the tool of knowledge to heal it, do not leave it
to time.
Episode 4
Desires are scenes which we create on the screen of our mind. When the
scene in reality is different from the one on the mind, the mind perceives
it as a loss, and we create pain.
Unfulfilled desires create pain. Let’s reduce our desires, and give
everything the liberty to happen the first time in reality, as it is meant
to be.
When talking to family and friends about our emotions, focus should be on
healing the emotion not discussing the problem and the emotion.
Anything done repeatedly becomes a habit. It is our creation and we can
change by creating a new habit. Focus on creating the new habit rather than
finishing the old one.
Morning meditation silences the conscious mind and implants the seeds of
new habits in the subconscious mind.
Episode 5
To change any habit we take care of 4 aspects. Gyan – Knowledge, Yog –
Meditation, Dharna -Inculcation of qualities and Seva - Sharing.
Meditation means to check your emotional blockages, see the thoughts behind
it and then replace those thoughts with the truth. For eg. No one loves me
is the blockage. Replace it with, I am a Loveful soul, I will give love and
acceptance to everyone.
Rajyoga Meditation means connecting to the Supreme Power, God and taking
His powers and love to heal our blockages.
Episode 6
Success inside i.e. stability, comfort, happiness inside will have an
influence on getting success outside.
When two people are in conflict inside, they cannot create harmony in the
relationship. Harmony inside, i.e comfort, stability inside flows into a
relationship and creates harmony.
We always thought if the relationship is beautiful, if we get along well,
then we will be very happy. The truth is if we are happy then the
relationship will be beautiful.
Knowledge is not to be used only for reading, listening and feeling nice,
but to be experimented and implemented in daily living.
Early morning the absorption capacity of the mind is high, fill it with
pure powerful information i.e. spiritual knowledge and keep the newspaper
for later in the day.
Episode 7
When we take knowledge shared by others and implement it, we silence our
noisy mind, then our own innate wisdom will emerge and this will change our
deep belief systems.
Study knowledge in the morning and then attention in the day on its
application in situations, this is Dharna, inculcation of values. We shift
from reactive behaviors to consciously responding from our original
qualities of peace, love and respect.
When we respond with stability in smaller situations we conserve energy.
When there is a crisis we have the energy to face it with calm and
stability.
The knowledge we learn, we share it with the other, this is Seva. When we
share we benefit first because we churn the knowledge while sharing.
Sharing can also be radiating vibrations of purity.
Episode 8
To make transformation natural and easy begin the day with meditation. As
far as possible at the same time daily and in a dedicated place which is
preferably not the bed, where there are vibrations of sleep.
Meditation silences the mind. Then study of knowledge implants seeds of new
way of thinking and behaving deep into the subconscious.
A minute of reflection after every hour to check the quality of thoughts
and change consciously towards the right way of thinking.
At night review the day. Any action which was not right, we reflect on it
and see how we could have responded in a different manner and visualize
ourselves doing it a different way.
Episode 9
We need to check our internal comfort zones of habits and behaviors created
due to past experiences or affirmations made by people around us. We may be
comfortable being that way, but it is damaging if it is depleting our
energy.
Self talk that we create has a deep impact on our sanskars and behaviors.
Like we talk positive loving words to others to help them
to change, we need to be positive and loving to ourselves.
Other people’s opinion about us should not stop us from breaking our
comfort zones. Goal is to have harmony inside. Easiest way to break a
comfort zone is to start doing the opposite, even if it appears to be
difficult.
Each of us is a powerful soul and all of us have the same amount of will
power, we choose how much to use. The more we use it, the more we will
experience it.
Episode 10
Subtle way of controlling people is when we change our behavior, like
getting angry, hurt, sulking, not talking to them, till they do what
we want them to do.
When we ask people to do things in a particular and they do it our way, we
feel we control them and they feel they are being controlled,
both are not true and it makes both weak.
The one who feels they can control will always have the fear of what if
they lose control. Their happiness will always be dependent on the
other person doing things their way.
The one who is listening to others needs to be aware that they are choosing
to obey for certain reasons. Important is they are making
the choice, they are not being controlled.
A powerful being is not the one who is able to control others, but the one
who is able to control themselves.
Episode 11
When people don’t do things according to what we want we start being
judgmental and critical. This is creating resistance towards them. At that
moment we don’t love them, we reject them.
Resistance is not because of what the other person has done. Resistance is
because of how we start thinking in response to what they have done.
Our judgmental thoughts will travel to them and they start creating similar
thoughts, and the process of conflict has begun.
Each one is different, no one is right or wrong, we are just different.
Acceptance means we accept the difference.
Acceptance means we are comfortable with their present sanskar and way of
working and ready to work on it from the next moment i.e. future.
Rejection is focused on the past, the mistake they made.
Episode 12
Criticism depletes the energy of the one being criticized and also of the
one criticising. The criticiser creates emotions of rejection,
anger, and fear of what if they don’t listen to me.
Criticism creates hurt in the one who is being corrected. When someone is
hurt they can follow our instruction but they are not feeling nice and
hence we cannot say – it was for their good.
Critique is giving feedback for the deed and criticism is thinking
negatively for the doer. Separate the action from the person and give
suggestion only for what they have done.
Appreciate the person’s qualities and the other tasks that they do, build
their self confidence and then give them feedback on the task
which has gone wrong.
When we are hurt or angry the feedback goes with the negative vibration and
therefore not comfortable for the other. When we are
stable and give the same feedback, it is only a feedback.
Episode 13
Give advice and corrections to others only after we are doing it in our own
lives.
Each soul is carrying sanskars of many births, created due to cultures and
situations in every birth.
Sanskars which are not comfortable need to be changed, else we carry them
into our next birth too.
Criticism deepens their wounds and sanskars get stronger. Compassion helps
them to heal their sanskars.
Correcting people means empowering them to do it better in the future.
Punishment was for what had happened in the past.
Shift from control, discipline, authoritative, punishment to being
compassionate, facilitate, guide, empower and heal.
Episode 14
Habits change only when we know WHY we need to change and we really WANT to
change.
MIND creates thoughts, INTELLECT evaluates and decides, comes into action,
repeated action becomes a HABIT or SANSKAR.
Once it is a habit, the mind does not create too many thoughts and the
intellect does not evaluate, the habit comes into action
automatically.
To change a habit, first we have to create a new way of thinking.
Shift from automated way of thinking to consciously choosing a new thought.
When the new thought is created, we will start feeling better. Now bring
the new thought into action. We are consciously creating a new
habit.
Episode 15
Life is not a competition. Each one is on their own journey, live according
to your choices, capacity, values and principles.
The output of our actions is in proportion to our inputs. Inputs could be
circumstances, health, resources, and value systems. Our output is not
dependent on the output of others.
Past Karma is a very important input factor. Even if all the present input
factors of two people are the same, their past karma are different,
therefore output will be different and therefore no competition.
If we compromise on our input factor – values or interfere with the inputs
of others, we are creating deep karma and this will influence our output
today and in the future.

MEANING OF AHIMSAAhimsa or non-injury, of course, implies non-killing.
Monday, April 16, 2012 4:28:30 AM
MEANING OF AHIMSAAhimsa
or non-injury, of course, implies non-killing. But, non-injury is not
merely non-killing. In its comprehensive meaning, Ahimsa or non-injury
means entire abstinence from causing any pain or harm whatsoever to any
living creature, either by thought, word, or deed. Non-injury requires a
harmless mind, mouth, and hand. Ahimsa is not mere negative non-injury. It
is positive, cosmic love. It is the development of a mental attitude in
which hatred is replaced by love. Ahimsa is true sacrifice. Ahimsa is
forgiveness. Ahimsa is Sakti (power). Ahimsa is true strength. SUBTLE FORMS
OF HIMSAOnly the ordinary people think that Ahimsa is not to hurt any
living being physically. This is but the gross form of Ahimsa. The vow of
Ahimsa is broken even by showing contempt towards another man, by
entertaining unreasonable dislike for or prejudice towards anybody, by
frowning at another man, by hating another man, by abusing another man, by
speaking ill of others, by backbiting or vilifying, by harbouring thoughts
of hatred, by uttering lies, or by ruining another man in any way
whatsoever. All harsh and rude speech is Himsa (violence or injury). Using
harsh words to beggars, servants or inferiors is Himsa. Wounding the
feelings of others by gesture, expression, tone of voice and unkind words
is also Himsa. Slighting or showing deliberate discourtesy to a person
before others is wanton Himsa. To approve of another's harsh actions is
indirect Himsa. To fail to relieve another's pain, or even to neglect to go
to the person in distress is a sort of Himsa. It is the sin of omission.
Avoid strictly all forms of harshness, direct or indirect, positive or
negative, immediate or delayed. Practice Ahimsa in its purest form and
become divine. Ahimsa and Divinity are one. AHIMSA, A QUALITY OF THE
STRONGIf you practice Ahimsa, you should put up with insults, rebukes,
criticisms and assaults also. You should never retaliate nor wish to offend
anybody even under extreme provocation. You should not entertain any evil
thought against anybody. You should not harbour anger. You should not
curse. You should be prepared to lose joyfully even your life in the cause
of Truth. The Ultimate Truth can be attained only through Ahimsa. Ahimsa is
the acme of bravery. Ahimsa is not possible without fearlessness.
Non-violence cannot be practiced by weak persons. Ahimsa cannot be
practiced by a man who is terribly afraid of death and has no power of
resistance and endurance. It is a shield, not of the effeminate, but of the
potent. Ahimsa is a quality of the strong. It is a weapon of the strong.
When a man beats you with a stick, you should not entertain any thought of
retaliation or any unkind feeling towards the tormentor. Ahimsa is the
perfection of forgiveness. Remember the noble actions of great sages of
yore. Jayadeva, the author of Gita-Govinda, gave large and rich present to
his enemies who cut off his hands, and obtained Mukti (liberation) for them
through his sincere prayers. He said: "O my lord! Thou hast given Mukti to
Thy enemies, Ravana and Kamsa. Why canst Thou not give Mukti to my enemies
now ?" A saint or a sage possesses a magnanimous heart. Pavahari Baba
carried the bag of vessels and followed the thief saying: "O Thief
Narayana! I never knew that You visited my cottage. Pray accept these
things." The thief was quite astonished. He left off his evil habit from
that very second and became a disciple of Pavahari Baba. Remember the noble
actions of saints like Jayadeva and Pavahari Baba, you will have to follow
their principles and ideals. GRADATIONAL PRACTICE OF AHIMSAWhen thoughts of
revenge and hatred arise in the mind, try to control the physical body and
speech first. Do not utter evil and harsh words. Do not censure. Do not try
to injure others. If you succeed in this by practice for some months, the
negative thoughts of revenge, having no scope for manifesting outside, will
die by themselves. It is extremely difficult to control such thoughts from
the very beginning without having recourse to control of the body and
speech first. First control your physical body. When a man beats you, keep
quiet. Suppress your feelings. Follow the instructions of Jesus Christ in
his Sermon On The Mount: "If a man beats you on one cheek, turn to him the
other cheek also. If a man takes away your coat, give him your shirt also."
This is very difficult in the beginning. The old Samskaras (impressions) of
revenge, of "a tooth for a tooth", "tit for tat", "an eye for an eye", and
"paying in the same coin" will all force you to retaliate. But you will
have to wait cooly. Reflect and meditate. Do Vichara or right enquiry. The
mind will become calm. The opponent who was very furious will also become
calm, because he does not get any opposition from your side. He gets
astonished and terrified also, because you stand like a sage. By and by,
you will gain immense strength. Keep the ideal before you. Try to get at
it, though with faltering steps at first. Have a clear-cut mental image of
Ahimsa and its immeasurable advantages. After controlling the body, control
your speech. Make a strong determination, "I will not speak any harsh word
to anybody from today". You may fail a hundred times. What does it matter ?
You will slowly gain strength. Check the impulse of speech. Observe Mouna
(silence). Practice Kshama or forgiveness. Say within yourself: "He is a
baby-soul. He is ignorant, that is why he has done it. Let me excuse him
this time. What do I gain by abusing him in return ?" Slowly give up
Abhimana (ego-centred attachment). Abhimana is the root-cause of human
sufferings. Finally go to the thoughts and check the thought of injuring.
Never even think of injuring anyone. One Self dwells in all. All are
manifestations of One God. By injuring another, you injure your own Self.
By serving another, you serve your own Self. Love all. Serve all. Hate
none. Insult none. Injure none in thought, word and deed. Try to behold
your own Self in all beings. This will promote Ahimsa. BENEFITS OF THE
PRACTICE OF AHIMSAIf you are established in Ahimsa, you have attained all
virtues. Ahimsa is the pivot. All virtues revolve around Ahimsa. Just as
all footprints are accommodated in those of the elephant, so also do all
religious and ethical rules become merged in the great vow of Ahimsa.
Ahimsa is soul-force. Hate melts in the presence of love. Hate dissolves in
the presence of Ahimsa. There is no power greater than Ahimsa. The practice
of Ahimsa develops will-power to a considerable degree. The practice of
Ahimsa will make you fearless. He who practices Ahimsa with real faith, can
move the whole world, can tame wild animals, can win the hearts of all, and
can subdue his enemies. He can do and undo things. The power of Ahimsa is
infinitely more wonderful and subtler than electricity or magnetism. The
law of Ahimsa is as much exact and precise as the law of gravitation or
cohesion. You must know the correct way to apply it intelligently and with
scientific accuracy. If you are able to apply it with exactitude and
precision, you can work wonders. You can command the elements and Nature
also. THE POWER OF AHIMSAThe power of Ahimsa is greater than the power of
the intellect. It is easy to develop the intellect, but it is difficult to
purify and develop the heart. The practice of Ahimsa develops the heart in
a wonderful manner. He who practices Ahimsa develops strong will-power. In
his presence, enmity ceases. In his presence, cobra and frog, cow and
tiger, cat and rat, wolf and lamb, will all live together in terms of
intimate friendship. In his presence, all hostilities are given up. The
term 'hostilities are given up' means that all beings - men, animals, birds
and poisonous creatures will approach the practitioner without fear and do
no harm to him. Their hostile nature disappears in them in his presence.
The rat and the cat, the snake and the mongoose, and other beings that are
enemies of each other by nature, give up their hostile feelings in the
presence of the Yogi who is established in Ahimsa. Lions and tigers can
never do any harm to such a Yogi. Such a Yogi can give definite orders to
lion and tigers. They will obey. This is Bhuta-Siddhi (mastery over the
elements) obtainable by the practice of Ahimsa. The practice of Ahimsa will
eventually culminate in the realization of unity and oneness of life, or
Advaitic (non-dual) Consciousness. The Yogi then enjoys the highest peace,
bliss and immortality. LIMITATIONS TO THE PRACTICE OF AHIMSAAbsolute Ahimsa
is impossible. It is not possible to the most conscientious Sannyasin or
monk. To practice that, you must avoid killing countless creatures while
walking, sitting, eating, breathing, sleeping and drinking. You cannot find
a single non-injurer in the world. You have to destroy life in order to
live. It is physically impossible for you to obey the law of
non-destruction of life, because the phagocytes of your blood also are
destroying millions of dangerous intrusive spirilla, bacteria and germs.
According to one school of thought, if by the murder of a dacoit many lives
are saved, it is not considered as Himsa. Ahimsa and Himsa are relative
terms. Some say that one can defend oneself with instruments and use a
little violence also when one is in danger; this is not considered to be
Himsa. Westerners generally destroy their dear horses and dogs when they
are in acute agony and when there is no way of relieving their sufferings.
They wish that the soul should be immediately freed from the physical body.
Motive is the chief factor that underlies everything. A renunciate or monk
should not defend himself and use violence even when his life is in
jeopardy. To an ordinary man, Ahimsa should be the aim, but he will not
fall from this principle if, out of sheer necessity and with no selfish
aim, he takes recourse to Himsa occasionally. One should not give leniency
to the mind in this respect. If you are lenient, the mind will always take
the best advantage of you and goad you to do acts of violence. Give a rogue
an inch, he will take an ell: the mind at once adapts this policy, if you
give a long rope for its movement. Ahimsa is never a policy. It is a
sublime virtue. It is the fundamental quality of seekers after Truth. No
Self-realization is possible without Ahimsa. It is through the practice of
Ahimsa alone that you can cognize and reach the Supreme Self or Brahman.
Those with whom it is a policy may fail many a time. They will be tempted
to do violent acts also. On the contrary, those who strictly adhere to the
vow of Ahimsa as a sacred creed or fundamentals cannon of Yoga, can never
be duped into violence. A UNIVERSAL VOWAhimsa is a Mahavratam or "great
universal vow". It should be practiced by all people of all countries. It
does not concern the Hindus or Indians alone. Whoever wishes to realize the
Truth must practice Ahimsa. You may encounter any amount of difficulties;
you may sustain any amount of losses, but you must not give up the practice
of Ahimsa. Trial and difficulties are bound to come in your way to test
your strength. You should stand adamant. Then alone will your efforts be
crowned with sanguine success. There is a hidden power in Ahimsa which
protects its practitioners. The invisible hand of God gives protection.
There is no fear. What can pistols and swords do ?Even now there are people
who do not give the least pain to any living creature. They carry sugar and
rice for distribution to ants in their holes. They do not use lights at
night for fear of killing the small insects. They are very careful while
walking in the streets, as they do not wish to trample upon small insects.
Blessed are these men. They will soon see God as they have very soft
hearts.
or non-injury, of course, implies non-killing.
Whoever wishes to realize the
Truth must practice Ahimsa. You may encounter any amount of difficulties;
you may sustain any amount of losses, but you must not give up the practice
of Ahimsa. Trial and difficulties are bound to come in your way to test
your strength. You should stand adamant. Then alone will your efforts be
crowned with sanguine success. There is a hidden power in Ahimsa which

Spiritual or Transcendental Meditation
In this work-a-day world, man's consciousness is always engrossed with
things that are earthly, persons which are worldly, situations which are
mundane, feelings which are temporal, thoughtswhich pertain to this cosmos
and visions of things that are terrestrial. Never does he, in his
life-time, transcend these, for he does not have knowledge of that which is
super-mundane, spiritual or transcendental. Only in deep sleep is his
consciousness at rest, to an extent. The depth of the feeling of this rest
or relaxation depends on how much his consciousness was withdrawn from the
world or in other words, how much he was lost in sleep. Even if his doors
of knowledge or organs of perception be shut out to the outside world, he
will not 'enjoy' his sleep if he has dreams of persons and things that are
worldly; he will say that he had a disturbed sleep, keeping this principle
in mind, a person practicing meditation can withdraw his mind from his body
and the world and yet he is not asleep. To understand this we have to
understand the following:
When a person, in the state of wakefulness, has reminiscences that are
pleasant, thoughts that are holy and memories of person with whom he has
cordial relations and of situation that are beneficial to him, then he
feels happy. The depth of his happiness depends on how beneficial the
situations are, how intimate these relationships are, so on and so forth.
Again, the more deeply he is absorbed in these thoughts and memories, the
more intense is his happiness and, at that moment, he feels detached from
all the rest or he feels lost in that experience.
Spiritual or Transcendental Yoga is based on the above two principles.
One's consciousness is detached from this world and is focused on or
absorbed in the thoughts or memories of the Transcendental. But how?
To illustrate this, let us suppose a person utters the word `Sun' or you
yourself think of the sun. What happens at that moment is that your mind,
your awareness or consciousness goes outwards, straight on to an orb-like
shining object that radiates light and heat which is called 'the sun'.
Similarly, with a little practice of meditation, a person can take his mind
to the Soul World and he sees there, with the eye of mind, the conscient
shining star that God is; and he meditates on His attributes. He stabilises
in these thoughts and this absorption leads him to restfulness or
relaxation to the highest pitch of bliss.

Absorption in Bliss
In the state of Yoga or meditation, one experiences the rays of light and
might or peace and bliss, descending on him and spreading through him into
the whole world, thus charging the atmosphere with vibrations of purity,
love and spiritual quietude. Sometimes one feels surrounded by divine light
and experiences extraordinary peace such as one had never experienced
before taking to the practice of Yoga. Sometimes he perceives himself in
golden-red light with strong currents of spiritual might, emanating from
him in all directions as strong rays of spiritual light. He will be having
deep realisation of being separate from the body, which too he now sees
being charged with these transcendental rays. Again, he experiences very
strong waves of deep-red light and might beaming out from him in all
directions and he perceives these ennobling and peace-giving vibrations
going in all directions, with good wishes to all. He also, at times, feels
as if he is a brilliant point of light, with rays of very high intensity,
bursting or darting out from him for the service of the whole world; on
such occasions, he has even no feeling of his body and has no conscious
thought except that he feels that he is absorbed in peace and bliss and in
God's fond Love, there being in him, sub-consciously though, the feeling of
fulfillment of life and of attainment of the ultimate. He feels in him a
high tide to exhilaration and satisfaction and he now regards himself a
very fortunate person having achieved his goal.
A person practising meditation has these and many other such benign
experiences. He either gets visions, revealing great mysteries or becomes a
visionary, having thoughts of high attitude. Even after the meditation
sittings, a person feels changed - a holy and happy man. He is now imbued
with the feeling of friendliness, affection and sympathy for his
fellow-beings. While walking, he no longer feels the weight of his body. He
feels as if he carries his body light as feather or as if he were lifted
from the ground. He now feels enormous store of will power and exuberance
of zest and indefatigable spirit. He now remains totally unaffected by
situations involving sharp contrasts - joy and sorrow, gain and loss,
praise and dispraise. He feels as if his weaknesses are now disappearing,
his ignoble tendencies are now making room for the dawn of purity and
divine qualities. He feels like continuing in this unique state forever.
The whole world now appears to him as to be a wonderful Drama.
