welcome to Opera Design blog. This is blog dedicated to Opera UI design primarily and other aspects of Opera also.
In my first post I will explain how i see Opera now and in wich way I imagine Opera UI should move.
Opera is right now "under the hood" most advanced browser side by side with Google's Chrome. Opera have problems in representing some sites compare to Chrome but things are changing slowly, and Opera is getting better on that field. For this problem is probably responsible lower user population or less reports about problems sent to developer team.
In customization Opera is untouchable on top. You can change almost everything, and make your unique internet suite. Why i call it internet suite? Well Opera isn't just a web browser, it's much, much more. Opera have intergrated Mail Manager, Unite, Widgets, Turbo, Notes and much more cool futures you can't see on other browsers. With lates build Opera get richer for Plug-in ability, last puzzle that was missing.
Tons of futures is sword with two blades. Opera is sometimes messy for their users and all the time for new users who wish to try it. Situation is greatly improved from Opera 10 but there is still room for improvement.
So on this blog I will try to make a concept for same old powerful Opera with tons of futures and huge place for customization. At same time i will try make it more simpler and intuitive. New possible users will greet that. Hard core Opera users will probably complain about my concepts but i will try to show them that change is nothing they should be afraid of. Opera in my concepts will stay old powerful Opera. Every change I make on Opera I will explain verbal and visual.
I'm calling everyone interested to comment and give proposals.
