KRYPTOS: K3 Keys
Monday, 20. July 2009, 21:13:16
K3's keys use all misspellings seen so far.
We'll start with the Morse code misspelling and align the misspelled E with the P below it as it is physically.
..DIGETAL
INTERPRETATION
Suppose we create new words by removing those center letters? Remember that the words are surrounded by E's.
..DIG.TALE
INTER RETATION
Does that look familiar? Almost looks like ENTER ROTATION, doesn't it? The first I to E would just be the same as what happened to the middle letter of DIGETAL. Besides, you can just use ONE dot instead of both to create an E. The E in RETATION needs to be changed to an O, but I think everyone can see the word ROTATION. It's cool that the E is the second letter, just like IQLUSION. This will be a trend that Q's will actually be O's. However, we won't discuss that further here.
RETATION
IQLUSION
..DIG.TALE
ENTER ROTATION
This isn't a stretch anyhow. Many people have commented on this.
We keep the letters P that we removed though. This is one of our keys.
What are other misspelled words?
K1 has the word IQLUSION.
And K2 has the word UNDERGRUUND.
The Q in IQLUSION is covering up an L. Also, the text of K2 says it was buried underground. On the line where L is located, we see DYAHR. Layer two is simply the second layer, or lower layer. This indicates the letters DHL.
The L is separate and so is associated with the separate letter P.
(P,L) = (16,12)
That's our first key.
Where are the other two key parts that go with D and H?
They're located at the only remaining misspelling, UNDERGRUUND. Again a play on words. The location of the word UNDERGRUUND is where the information was buried.
We take everything between the first and second X where UNDERGRUUND is located.
X THE INFORMATION WAS GATHERED AND TRANSMITTED UNDERGRUUND TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION X
Now take the text from the first X to the misspelled U.
XTHEINFORMATIONWASGATHEREDANDTRANSMITTEDUNDERGRU
How many characters? 48!
Now take the text from the misspelled U to the X at the end.
UUNDTOANUNKNOWNLOCATIONX
How many characters? 24!
Associate DH with 48 and 24 in the order found.
(D,48) = (4,48)
(H,24) = (8,24)
(L,P) = (12,16) // Added for completion
Those are our three keys.
Simply do a double rotation in any direction as long as both rotation are in the same direction and you'll decipher K3. Each number in the key represents the amount of columns to use. You may use them in any order as well. (4,48) is just as good as (48,4).
Note again that we have THREE keys. That's a clue from back in K1.
Also note that the keyword for K2 is ABSCISSA meaning that all our numbers in our keys are used for the number of columns, aka the x-axis.
