This posting came from Johnny Boyd: Very Interesting.
Lets do a quick history lesson and see if any of us have learned
anything in the past 36 yrs. I remember celebrating as a young boy when
Jimmy Carter was elected President in 1976 and then celebrated as he
left office. In his 4 yrs. any pride Americans had was almost
completely gone. We had gas lines for miles, a depleted military,
record unem...
ployment, and high inflation. At this point we were also weak. Our
embassy was overran in Iran and all the workers taken hostage by
militants (one who happens to be in charge of Iran today). Did we do
anything? Yes we did. We made some really nice HEY IRAN t-shirts with
Mickey Mouse flipping Iran off. I am sure we couldnt wear these today
as they might upset the Muslims and heaven forbid we do that. We also
tried a botched rescue that ended with our helicopters laying lifeless
on the beaches of Iran. Thank you Mr. President for depleting our
military to the point of having to rob parts off of other machines to
keep other ones running. And I remember every night seeing these
hostages on television being moved around and these people laughing in
our faces. And still...nothing. Then I remember Ronald Reagan winning
the Presidency and issuing the warning to Iran that if the hostages
were not released by the time he took office we were coming in after
them. Then the same day as Reagan took office I saw the hostages plane
leave Iran coming home. You can call it coincidence, I think not.
As Reagan took the Presidency I remember there was optimism in the air.
The Reagan tax cuts came in and eventually unemployment came down as
the gas lines disappeared and the military was restored to full
strength and we enjoyed the longest economic boom in U.S. history,
lasting into the late 90's. America was back! We had pride in who we
were again. I remember watching as Reagan systematically out maneuvered
the Russians and a House and Senate that was overwhelmingly Democrat to
end the Cold War and free Europe. A feat the Democrats in Washington
said could not be done. I remember Quadaffi of Libya carrying out one
of his terrorist attacks and putting a line in the water telling the
U.S not to cross and what did Reagan do? lHe went across it and sent a
missile into Quadaffis house, barely missing Quadaffi. The message was
clear and Quadaffi was very quiet after that. I then watched as this
man who restored Americas pride left office.
I watched as another madman appeared on the scene and took over Kuwait
and as Americans we knew this had to be stopped. And so with a strong
military we as Americans leading the way freed Kuwait from Saddam
Hussein.
Then in 1992 Bill Clinton became President and over the next 8 yrs.
once again the President depleted the military and once again we were
attacked. When the USS Cole was attacked, what did we do? NOTHING! When
2 of our embassys were hit, what did we do? NOTHING! When the car bombs
exploded in the garage of the World Trade Center what did we do?
NOTHING! When Usama Bin Laden was offered to Clinton...TWICE... WE..
DID.. NOTHING!!!! We were seen as a paper tiger and easy for the
picking.
Then on 9-11-01 we pay for doing NOTHING! Only this time there was
someone (regardless of how you feel about Bush) in office that was not
going to take this lying down and we fought back against and Ideology
thats at war with us and had been since the 90s. Of course the military
had to be rebuilt once again so that we could fight back. And everytime
we were hit we hit back. So much so that Quadaffi voluntarily gave up
his quest for nukes and turned them over to the U.S. America was at war
but once again we had pride back.
Then Barack Obama is elected and promising everything under the sun and
delivering on none of it. He has gone around apologizing for the
greatness of the United States..way to go Mr. President. But under him
I see the same type of fears and lack of moral in people that I saw in
the late 70s. And then today we are attacked again and what does the
President do? He apologizes to the ones who perpetrated this. Then
turns around and apologizes for the apology. Mr. President GET SOME
STINKIN BACKBONE!!!! Just like Carter in the 70s and Clinton in the 90s
he does NOTHING!
Our embassies were taken and an Ambassador killed. WHAT WILL YOU DO MR
PRESIDENT? Prime Minister Netanyahu of Isreal seeing the middle east on
the edge of exploding wants to come to Washington to meet with you to
discuss this. And what do you do? Decline due to scheduling conflicts
(campaign stops and David Letterman). I guess at the DNC when they had
to argue about the capital of Isreal. Their true thoughts came though
on the first vote. TALK IS CHEAP! A real leader would put their own
ambitions aside and meet with him on a matter as important as this at
this time. I also see the Presidents budget with DRASTIC cuts to the
military that would leave us the smallest army we have had since 1915,
the smallest navy since 1940 and the smallest air force EVER. All this
at a time when he apologizes to terrorist and the Muslim brotherhood.
If you look at the past 36 years every time a Democrat comes in office
they deplete the military and we get attacked. And then a Republican
comes in builds the military back up again and we feel safe again. Its
just history go look at it for yourself. Nobody wants to look at Baraks
record all they want to do it look at where Mitts money is. Heres a
clue...Its in the same place as all the other millionaires in this
country including Mr.Obama, the Clintons and the elite in Hollywood. I
could care less where his money is at and how much he has. What I DO
care about is how will you defend this country when we are attacked.
Will you apologize to the enemy or take the fight to them. I AM AN
AMERICAN!! I WOULD RATHER DIE FIGHTING THAN LIVE ON MY KNEES!! Mitt has
already given his response, lets say it was a lot more forceful than
the Presidents. In this year people lets put partys aside and do whats
best for the U.S. I am a Patriot well before I am a republican and
would put my country over party without hesitation... can you? You may
not be a big Mitt supporter but can you risk 4 more years of being
attacked and doing NOTHING.

Opera Unite

If you have looked around a bit you have seen that we have been busy!
The thing with Oera Unite support being has me looking for some way to get
Opera to rethink that!
There is some very good news, no they are not talking yet,
But I figured out that the people who were posting on the Forum, (see below),
are the best minds on Opera so I am going by and saying hi to you all and I am having a lot of fun meeting you all.
When I am not on that I am working with my Robot Friend Trina Earth and Trina Moon (there twins) or my wife and I are working in our garden.
I would have you sign my guest book, but I hid all of my Unite toys for now.
Oh ya, I was working my eyes out and I found some good links to some code.
Can any one help me learn how to play with these?
Peace out.

I hope that people see this and help us to keep Opera Unite.

Pease help ask Opera to restore Opera Unite.
Tuesday, June 5, 2012 6:43:49 PM
Hi. I go by Neil DeJour and I work for Astute Paradox free web page directory. It is a collection of samples of actual web pages built on the free web social networks so that people looking to make a free web page can see which social net work is right for them. Facebook and MySpace are not for every one, but there are a lot of good reasons to have your own web pages. For example, my wife and I have a web page for our photography. Wile Opera dose a fine job with our photos, DeviantArt is a social network that is all about art. Much as YouTube is all about Videos.
Astute Paradox is on over 50 social networks.
Please see the links page for the list.
What we have with Opera Unite, (if we can convince Opera to keep it), Is the ability to teach ourself to wright our own code and host it on our own computers.
One reason that is important is that to learn to write web pages you have to be able to build a page, post it, learn more, make changes, post changes, try new things, modify code ... post them.
Opera Unite gave us that. there Dragonfly package is all about working with the parts they seem to be taking away.
Please help me ask them to restore the Opera Unite webserver.
Don't let Opera do with Unite what Microsoft did when they dumped LiveSpaces for Wordpress and lost the developer network.
Please see this link: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=12413642
For the whole story.
This is a real stand for the ability of the little man to teach them self a real skill. We need this. It is not too late, they can bring it back. Thank you.
